I have noticed that my boss is too easy becomes panic when facing any problem in workplace. He tends to taking rush decision which most of the time is wrong and not solving to the root cause of the problem. He is really like to take shortcut on any kind of problem, even without discuss with his team member. I know that our client is put him in hard and under pressure task but his attitude is really annoying and make us trap in the problem he created..Have you ever experienced similar problem? What do you think? How to remind him and change his attitude?

From your description one tends to make out that he is not up to the task somehow but there sure must have been circumstances under which he is now placed there. Is he a long service employee and just promoted as a matter of simple seniority? Is he very old? Or may be he is not as qualified as some of his subordinates? He may not be consulting team members but do team members go and discuss with him? How receptive is he to ideas & suggestions? If he is not, then there is not much that you can do. Much as you dislike him, you have to bear with him. May be the senior management will evaluate his performance and take a decision at the appropriate time. Till then, you have our sympathies.

It's difficult if your boss is someone that gets into wrong decision. The rest of the team will suffer and so is the project and standing of the company. I think my friend, somebody has to have the initiative in telling him that all the team members can help if only he will listen to their suggestion. It is said that two heads is better than one so he has to ask for all you help. Maybe you can organize a dinner with him and there because it's after office hours you can all share what your suggestions are to be able to solve the problem and how he should deal with it, with the group ready to help.

your boss is your boss, if he panicks then i guess your team will have to dleiver him results earlier - that would make him panic less because you are already done with what could make him panic. ithink when a person is panicky, or is pessimist, you will just have to adjust for him and show him your team can be trusted, when he develops that kind of trust for your team over time that you were able to deliver good results, way before the deadline, it will soon follow that he is already confident withh your team.

What's worst about having a boss like that is that you can't fully function because he'll keep on stumbling down potholes just to make a quick resolution. Yes, I've met people like that and it annoys me to hell especially when they don't listen to what the consequences might be. The bad thing about that is whenever push comes to shove, they'll shove you all the way just to keep their name clean. The best way to deal with someone like that is to be frank with him. It may sound rude to insist but there is such a thing as rude assertiveness. You could even try bargaining. It also helps to keep a friendship with him because it can make your opinions matter more, especially if you've showed him that you can be trusted in such matter. Good luck.

Wow that's really hard. You can't also advise him since he's your boss and he might take it the wrong way. I don't know. Maybe when there's a problem in the office, maybe you can try suggesting him some of your ideas. In that way, maybe he won't panic so much. I don't really know how to change his attitude because if you'll advise him regarding his attitude, there's a possibility that he might get mad at you.

It is not always easy to advise a boss, but if he needs some help in controlling his panic I think it would be good for someone to give some advise quietly away from everyone, some people just can't make good decisions when in panic mode, maybe we all make bad ones at this time, maybe he just needs to step back , take a deep breath and think before taking actions.

Sounds like your boss isn't up to the challenge of being a manager..Did he get promoted too soon from within the company,or how did He get past the interview process without the management skills he appears to be missing? If He doesn't have the skills,He needs more experience or training to develop them..It doesn't sound as though those working under him have a lot of confidence in him, which is not good..
