Animals have feelings,too!

Why I am saying this becasue of all the animals people are abandoning! Instead of taking the time to take our pets, like cats, dogs and horses to humane society's or rescue groups, owners adandon them! They just leave them when they move! They turn the animals lose to defend for themselves! How would you like it if someone did that to you? You have feelings and so do animals! They love us! They are friends, companions, and part of the family! So when tough times get tough we just think of ourselves and forget our pets have feelings! That is terrible! If you love your pets you would not do this! If you can't kept you pet(s) please look into places that can find new homes for them! At least do that for them! Pets don't deserve to be adandoned!

Hi blue, I'm minding a puppy at the moment...he's a real cutie. His owners also have another dog and to be blunt, the animals are being neglected. It's understandable though. They have 8 children and two of the kiddies are new born twins. They also run our local cafe/shop. They have asked me to look after the puppy and to try and find a good home for both of them. There is no-one in our little town I would let take these two dogs. Wish me luck.

At least this family knows it can't afford the dogs anymore! I hear to many stories of people keeping animals they can't afford and refuse to give them up! Then you know the animals suffer! I wish you luck finding a new home for that puppy!

Although I understand how you feel, I have to disagree with your position. There are millions of animals living in the woods and jungles, and even the deserts, all over the world. They don't have permanent homes. Often, they don't get food for days. And they don't get any medications when they are sick. Yet, most of them not only manage to stay alive but they grow big and strong and produce new life. If you "abandon" your pet, there is a CHANCE, just a chance, that it will do very well on its own. If you turn it in to a shelter, unless it is immediately adoptable, the animal will be put to sleep. To me, this is even more cruel than setting the animal free.

The animlas you are talking about at wild animals. They have survived on their own since the beginning of time! The strongest survive and weakest don't! That is life! Dogs and cats, most, can't survive if abandoned by their owners! They have been breed to survive with man's help. Also stray animals can get hit by cars, get into people's trash. If not neutered or srayed more strays can be born and casue more problems! Some people don't think of that! If a person has and thinks going to a animal shelter is best for the pet, there are shelter that are "no kill" shelters! Pets don't have to abondoned or killed! It can be awarded!

I agree that animals have feelings, too. They can also sense your feelings. If you play with them, they will be happy and go around you. It is terrible to abandon animals because this is really irresponsible. You should regard the pets as a member of your family. Otherwise at first you shouldn't have pets at your home. I love China

I know animals have feelings! They can sense when we are not feeling good and when we are having a bad day! They comfort us and keep us company! Dogs and cats just don't sense feelings! Horses can to and I know that from having a horse almost 27 years! So they should be treated like part of the family and never be treated badly!

You are so right that is a good thing about humane society if you get a pet through them they actually check you out. I see these people giving away their baby pets in store parking lots and they don't even know who the person is that is taking their animals. My ex husband was a bad one to get a dog and then just drop the dog off when he got sick of it! I have seen several people drop their animals off and drive off. I think to myself how can someone do that just dropping off an animal and driving off how can these kinds of people live with that kind of a decision? If you got pets they are your responsibility to make sure they have what they need they become family if you take them into your home they are like your kids! Take care of your own pet if you can't take care of the pet take them to the humane society they will adopt them out or put them to sleep where they don't have to suffer the wild world! Great discussion!

Thanks Free-Man! I thought of this discussion becsue I hear so many stories of animals being abandoned! Small to large animals! How people can just give their pets to strangers or just dumo them off somewhere is beyond me! I think these people never loved their animals or got it their head they are doing the right thing by dumping their animals off! Whatever the reason it is wrong and people should be ashamed of themselves!

God loves HIS animals wonder what these people will say to God about dropping these poor defenseless animals they drop off in the wilds of this world! Just plain makes me sick to think of all these poor animals that people have dropped off. I think that if people get caught doing something like this they should go to jail like abandoning a child! Let's face it these animals that God gave us to share our lives are like little children they don't know how or where to get food to eat or have a place to sleep what not or to do without us helping them they don't have much of a chance. Makes me just plain SICK what us humans do to these helpless animals!I think that if caught dumping animals people should have to be in the wilderness with no comforts of home and let them see how scary it can be to an animal. No cell phone no sleeping blanket no water no food nothing they might take into consideration this and may or may not drop off a defenseless animal ever again!

Excellent topic to discuss! I get very upset when I hear about any animal that gets abandoned or is not cared for. There are several pets in my household, from fish to a dog and several small animals in between. I love all of them. I don't know about you, but I can "feel" their presence in our home. When we go on vacation, we take our dog to a parent's house to keep the dog while we are gone. That night that she is not in the house, it is very strange indeed. No animal should ever be abandoned for any reason. As you say, there are many groups that will assist with pets. I also hear about people abandoning dogs and cats when they get too old to "play", which I think is just plain cruel. I personally witnessed someone bringing an animal to a vet for euthanasia, and the only problem the dog had was it was overweight. A dog cannot feed itself, so they should look in the mirror for the reason the dog is that way. He did not even stay with the dog, he just asked that they call him when the procedure is finished so he could pick up the leash! How heartless. I don't know if that vet actually put the dog down or gave it to rescue, I hope they did the latter. It's a truly sad state when people abuse animals like that, makes you wonder what they would do to another human?

I thought of this discussion becasue I am hearing more and more stories on this! Small and large animals! I hear so many stories about people doing with cats and dogs. Now I am hearing tons of stories of people doing that to horses! It makes me sick and sad! I really think people are heartless when they neglect or abandon an animal! I just wonder to if a person who does this to an animal will do it to a human! Sad to say it does happen! I owned a horse for close to 27 years. I got him at 4 year old and had to put him down at 31 years of age! I would of had him longer but his health was going and I didn't want to see him suffer anymore! He was a friend,a companion and pet! He will never be forgottan!

My aunt lived on a large piece of land (72 acres) years ago. She heard of a horse that was going to be put down because it could not race anymore, and could not be ridden. Other than that, the horse was fine. She adopted it and made an enclosure for her, and she lived many years in peace, just walking around and being alive!

Hi blue65packer..I am not an animal lover...I don't have any pets however I totally agree with you...I don't think it right for these people get a pet and then when they get tired of them, they don't even have the decensy to dod the right thing to get rid of the animal. I seen on the news today that a man drove his car throught a fock of geese killing one and injuring some others...They fined his butt heavy for his actions...as well as they should have..What would even make him do that...

People can be so cruel to animals! I wish we could punish people the way they treat animals, maybe they will think before they do it again! I have been hearing way to many stories of animals being abandoned, neglected or treated cruely! It needs to stop!

yes all animals ask for is food and a little love and care and humans continue to treat them as if they don't have feelings at all, I think one day we are all going to find out what animals are really here for and how we should be treating them, some people should be ashamed how they treat animals.

I know pets can make you feel better when you feel sad! They don't tell you what to do! They love you unconditionly! Animals help you from feeling lonely if you are alone! How people can treat animals so badly I will never understand! They should be ashamed!

Of course animals have feelings too. In fact, in some part, animals are more attentive than human beings, for example, some birds got only one spouse in its whole life. I think when you get an animal as your pet, you should try to treat it as your family member, in fact, it is your family member. It is understandable everyone can have some hard times or need a move, but which not means you have the right to abandon your pets. You know, in my places, i have seen so many abandoned cats wondering here and there in the district. Most of them are abandoned because they are big and not cute any more. Well, i really can't understand why their host do this. I don't like cats, so i have not keep one as pet, but if i do, i will keep it until it die. Anyway, as time goes on, you and your pets will develop love between each other and have close ties, how come you abandon the animal you once loved and cared?

Hi blue65packer, " Animal cop ",the animal welfare series proves how cruel some people can be when dealing with their pets or other domesticated animals. Those who mistreat animals or simply abandon them should be severely punished and put behind bars. Just because our furry friends cannot speak like the way we do, it doesn't mean that they cannot communicate or have no feelings. Unlike humans animals holds no grudge and only expects food and affection from us.In return they will shower us with their unconditional love. The insensitive ones can never realize this and such people should never be allowed to raise any kind of animal at all.

I have seen those "Animal Cop" programs on Animal Planet. I have not in along time becasue it is to upsetting to watch what people do to their animals! I know some people do get caught and are punished. Not enough people are charged and their punishments are to severe when they are! Animals have feelings and some people are to heartless to realize this!

I just don't understand when people abandon their pets. My critters are a part of the family and I could never leave them behind. A lot of pets have been abandoned the past few years during the housing crisis and it breaks my heart. It is very easy to rent a house or apartment that allows pets right now so there people should really live up to their responsibility to their animals!

I don't know what people think when they have to move becasue they can't afford their home anymore! There are alot of apartments and homes for rent that alllow pets! I know a person from work who has two dogs and 2 cats and their house was foreclosed on. They found a house to rent closer to work and they were able to keep their pets. So it is possible to take your pets with you! More people need to realize it!

I love my dog so much and I can't even imagine if he was abandoned or hurt in any way. He has so much love and I can tell that he does have feelings, he has a lot of feelings. Some people don't realize animals have feelings also and I always knew they did so I can't understand their ways of thinking. I get so hurt when I see those commercials with animals being abused and needing a home. I wish I could save them all.

True. They have feelings too. My dad even laughs at me when I tell him that our dog can understand everything we say. But I know it's true. They act like us and think like us. The only thing that's different is that their physical looks is different and they can't talk. I really hate people who don't care about their animals. Our neighbor is just letting their dog out the house without even a small roof to cover him when it's raining. What I think is that, if you can't take care of them, why bring them or decide to have one? I do agree on you that when people move they need to bring with them their dogs too. I don't think it will be that hard. Or if their moving to another country, they would have leave their pets with the care of someone, I am sure someone will accept them with open arms.

I have heard of people not having shelter for their dogs when let their dogs live outside! Heard stories of people never letting their dogs out of their kennels, too! People have no idea or care what they are doing to their animals! It is disgusting! If you can't take upr pet when you move, give it to the humane society or the SPCA! They can find a new home for your pet!

Yeah right blue i agree with your saying, take the example of a dog,the dog loves its owner like the person's sons and daughter, the dog does whatever the owner tells him to do plus the dog always tries to protect his owner. If you give some space, food and some time to animals the animals always repay your faith, time, understanding by someways or another. So,we should treat our pets too like sons/daughters or mother/father etc.We should think of pets as part of family and not as animals!!!

Animals like dogs and cats love their owners unconditionly! Especial when they become part of the family! I just wonder what parents tell their children when they abandon their pets? I am sure it isn't the truth and the parents hould be ashamed of themselves!

As you said pets dont deserve to be abandoned. It is because they are domestic pets that is use to be taking care of. Not abandoning, because they adopt to a place where they are. A dog and a cat is best endorse in a vet where they can take care live a life.
