To put it in simple terms : Seeds are the people who have the entire file and are sharing it. So once your download finishes and you dont stop the torrent you will become a seed and actively share it with other users. Peers are those who are downloading the file and do not have the whole file with them. While they are downloading they are also actively sharing the parts of the file that has been downloaded by them already. So if the no. of seeds are more and the peers are less you get higher speed and if peers are more you get lower speed. 90-95 kbps is decent speed, but I will be to only answer how to improve it knowing what type of connection you have. I have both Wi- fi and a dongle at my place. I get around 100 kbps using a dongle and around 250 kbps download speed in torrents using Wi- fi. Hope this helps. cheers :)

I don`t think the connection matters too much. Now we all have more than 5Mb/s ,i have 50Mb/s but i don`t think you will ever reach more than 3Mb/s.You get higher speed if there are enough seeders and if some of them will send more than 100kb/s.I downloaded torrents with over 1.5Mb and even 3Mb/s...unfortunately most of them were fake torrents

Hi iuliuxd, Yes I think you are right partly. But then if the speed does not depend on connection how can you explain the difference in speeds for torrents? I download sitcoms and most of them have mostly the same no. of seeds and peers ( approx ). Btw fake torrents suck.. I usually use isohunt where users post comments if its real or fake.. It really helps :)

Seeds are persons who has the file on their computer and is currently helping you by giving their files to you. Peers are persons who has some parts of the file and they are also like you because they are still in the process of downloading the file from the seeders though they also give you some parts of the file that they have on their computer. I don't know if their is a way to increase your download limit but I guess you can set it in your torrent client. I set it in the past before but it didn't do anything to increase my download speed because it remained the same.

Peers means you get a bit of a file from other people and seeds mean you give a bit of your file to other people. This is very helpful because most people let the download stand on for some extra hours to give other people also the change to get the file as soon as possible. You aren't downloading torrents from server but jsut from other people i always let stand the torrent for a few days, if i do not need a fast Internet connection.

My other option in downloading files from the internet is through torrents. The software I use is bittorent. When we say seeds, those are the percentage of the file being sent or distributed to those who download the file. Seeding depends on how many people downloading it. If none, you will not get a seed from the file you are trying to download. Peers are the people downloading the file. What you have read stating to seed more is for them not to stop their download even though the file has reached to 100%.

It's the action of sharing it to others, it happens when you finished downloading, if you will not stop it when it reaches 100% it will say seeding. Seeding helps other people to download the file faster, the more people seeding on a file, the easier for people to download it. This is just my opinion and not really sure if this is the correct meaning but i think it's better than nothing. happy mylotting

To make it simple: Seeds have the completed file and are actually sharing. Peers are downloading the file and have part of it, usually are sharing pieces also. High numbers of each are best for speed when choosing torrents. Low number of seed and high numbers of peers will make it slow. Low number on each will also make it slow.
