I've been divorced for 25 years and have never reverted to my maiden name, simply because it was too much hassle to change it back again. However, as I'm getting older, I do sometimes wish I'd gone back to my maiden name.

Yes I'd imagine different countries have different cultural traditions. Have a good day! :-)

If,I were to get divorce, I will not carry my ex name anymore. That's one reason for getting divorce- to take his name out of my system- so why should I still be using his name. I don't know with others- this is my personal view.

I have a few friends who were married and are now divorced, a couple of them just kept their married name I think because she wanted the same name as their children but I also have a couple who went back to their maiden name, matter of choice I think.

Where I live, it's not legal to take the husband's name when marrying. We have to maintain our maiden name our entire lives. We can use the married name socially but for any government documentation, a stay in the hospital, etc., we go by the maiden name. I think it's common in older generations that women keep the husband's name, even after divorce, because that has been the name they've been known by for years and years. But, as someone else said, I do think many women keep the name so as to carry the same last name as their children.

I think it is the bureaucracy of name change that makes some ladies keep their ex-husband's name

Some women still carry her ex-husband's surname because it is what is written in their papers. I'm sure they would want to change their surname back into their original surname.

Hi there... I am a man... I would it totally depends upon the lady. If she wants to she can carry on the name or else get changed to her original one... After it is just the question of changing the name on the documents...

Well you know if its him devorcing with her , she might not want to let go . And keep the name . Maybe its a remainding of happy times witch people don't want to forget . People are strange animals so dont try to get them :D And a lot of people dont give much of a tougth about the name , people such as i dont care for my second or third name , maybe she does not too .
