Yes! I am gonna try to make a roast turkey for my family on new years eve. I live in a country where this is not a tradition, we usually eat lamb or pork. But this year I want to make a roast turkey. So this is my question for people who have experience with it: What kind of tools do you need??

All you really need is a stove and a pan big enough to hold the turkey. A lid or some sort of cover is handy if the turkey browns too fast and a large fork or something to get it out of the pan with. Some people wouldn't think of roasting one without a meat thermometer, but I just roast mine until it's done.. If you roast it slowly, you won't need a baster to baste it because it won't dry out. Poultry only dries out when it's cooked too fast. I'm sure there will be others who disagree, but in the end, do what's comfortable for you.

Thanks a lot! I ate turkey last year and it was delicious. I also see it how they cook it on TV and it looks almost as a ritual, I wish we had that tradition.

In addition to what is already mentioned, you will need a rack for the pan. A turkey will cook out a lot of fat (as liquid) and you don't want it sitting in that while roasting.

As peavey said, a big enough pan is probably the best thing either with a lid or you can cover the bird with foil to stop it getting too dry our the outside getting burned whilst the inside is raw. Remove the foil towards the end of cooking so the skin gets brown and crispy (this makes it sweet and brings out the flavour). How many people are you feeding? Some turkeys can be VERY big so be careful what you order or buy because a bird weighing 30lbs takes quite a while to cook.
