Snoring and Diabetes

Snoring may be a sign of tiredness but people who snore heavily had a raised risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those who don't snore. Those who snore regularly also have sleep apnea, a sleep disorder than causes pauses in breathing while sleeping. I know a few people who snore but I think they only do because they're tired. How about you? Do you or know someone who always snore? What do you do to prevent it?

Most people I know who snores are overweight and tired from their work. Sometimes we try to tap them so they would change their sleeping position. 'Though it doesn't work most of the time. I think one thing that these person can do is to lessen their weight.

For those who are overweight, yes, they have to watch out their weight and diet. Thanks, mylene!

snoring is in direct correlation to weight. if you are heavy weight wise, then you will snore and being over weight is a cause of type 2 diabetes.

Hi there neelia_lyn! My cousin(lady) always snore at night... and one reason is she's overweight... when she snores, i get worried because its sounds like she's having a hard time breathing, but actually she's not... and ya, they also said that people who snore might have other complications as well... not only diabetes but also heart problems... to prevent it, sometimes, you have to tell the person not to sleep on their back, but sleep sideways... hmmm, i heard some snoring people puts a ball at their back, actually ties it to their body so that when they roll on their sleep, they won't lie on their back because of the ball lol

Yes, the complications are not good. Putting or tying a ball at their back when they sleep is a good idea but I think not all would comply to that :) I also have a friend who snores a lot but she's so thin and I wonder why she always snores so I suggested she should see a doctor but she said it's may not be necessary because she's not feeling sick or what. Well, thank you for the helpful response, fheroan.
