The Grade III class were having a Christmas activity exchanging gifts. It was Anita's turn to pick a classmate name from the tambiolo. She dipped her hand inside and picked a sheet of paper. It was John's- her poor classmate. She unwrapped John's Christmas box of gift and was dismayed to find its contents very much lesser than the value of hers. In tantrums, she threw the box away, and cried as loud as could be. Then she ran towards John and rendered him some slapping, crying and cursing him in the process. She created a scene and her classmates could do nothing to appease her.
If you were the class teacher, what will you do to maintain order and discipline in the classroom?

As a teacher, the only thing I could do would be to physically remove her from the room and suspend her for 3 days, or call security. As a parent, that child has to learn to be grateful for every little thing she has. And that can only be accomplished by serious deprivation of all but basic needs.
