I do not think they both compete against each other's popularity. Given the craze of cricket in India, there is space for multiple superstars to exist. Both Sachin and Sehwag are superstars who have won matches for India on their own. Cheers! Ram

In my opinion the view you presented is really absurd. Sehwag cannot be compared with a man like Sachin Tendulakr, the master. When only Sachin scored the double hundred in ODI, it was proved that double hundreds are possible in one day cricket. You can't judge Sehwag's ability with that of Sachin by seeing only his one day's performance. Actually Sachin is incomparable with any of the players playing right now, I think.

I think both are different players and both have different styles of playing. And Sachin is the god of cricket. There is no player who can bat like him. Viru breaking one record of Sachin doesn't mean Sachin's popularity is threatened.

Every one knows that each of the payers have it's won style and batting style and this is what which separates both of them both and this is why people booked them as the best openers in the cricket. As we all know that Viru is a very aggressive player and sachin is little calm and this makes the batting style different and makes difference in how they bat with ball. I think in any games there would be verities of personalities with different capabilities. Sachin has his capabilities for which he is popular. Sehwag has extremely different abilities in cricket and made a most memorable record for it. There is no matter of decreasing of Sachin's Popularity but there is a great increase in popularity of Sehwag.
