Drivning home last night my car made a terrible noise. I thought it was a flat. Got out of the car and didn't see anything wrong. It was also dark. I then thought something was wrong with the engine! Luckily I was near the town I drive through to get to and from work. i drove into a parking lot and got called of a friend to pick me up. It turns out the cars right front tire was flat! So I am getting it fixed today! Thank goodness for a cell phone, a good friend and it only being a tire! Have you ever experienced a flat on your car?

I have only been scared about having a flat tire once. It happened to me while driving home from class on a Friday about 5:00 P.M., on a bridge, with only a little space between the travel lane and the edge of the bridge, on the drivers side of the car on the back axle. I just knew that I was never going to get that flat changed before someone hit my car, and probably me, too. I got the jack and spare tire out of the trunk when a wrecker pulled up behind me and turned on his emergency flashers and completely blocked the whole lane so that I could change that flat in complete safety. once I got the flat changed I walked back to him and told him that I never would have got that flat changed if he hadn't stopped and did what he did. I thanked him for his diligence in noticing what was going on. He said that a State Police trooper had noticed my predicament and called them to assist me.

Years ago driving home from town, I too got a flat tire. I was able to pull over to the side of the road. I walked to the nearest house (I was miles from town) to call my husband, he was not home yet from driving school bus. So I walked back to the car and got the jack out and was going to proceed to try and change the tire when a school bus pulled over, it was my hubby. He took the school bus home and came back with the truck, changed the tire and we were off again. I hope that doesn't happen again as we have no cell phone. Glad it was nothing serious.

I am glad I have a cell phone! I would be lost without it! If not I would of had to go to the nearest house and call! I have never tired to change a flat tire before! I probaly could of and my friend could of,too. He didn't and that was ok! My car was towed to the gararge which was near by and that charge was not much!

I am glad you had a cell phone, there are many times a cell phone would come in handy. Years ago we had a mobile phone for a few years, but we didn't use it much so we just didn't renew the contract. We have been talking about getting a prepaid cell phone to have in the car or truck just in the case of emergencies.

I had a flat tyre a couple of years ago about 7klms from home as I was going out. I was able to empty my boot and get the spare out but there was no way I could get down to change the tyre...my knees simply won't go there. I was so lucky that a family came along and the fellow changed the tyre for me. My phone doesn't work out here...not for another 40 klms or so, I could have been stuck there for a while.

It is nice to have a cellphone nowadays! If I'd not had my cellphone on me I would of had to go to the nearest house and use their phone! I never have changed a flat on a car. If I was really in need of doing it I probaly could of done it. Luckily I was able to have my friend to come and get me! He could of changed the tire but it didn't matter! I got the car fixed the following day. I knew the right back tire needed to be replaced because it had a leak which was not fixable. That and the flat were replaced and it turns out one of the front tires needed to be replaced ,too! So I ended up replaceing 3 tires!

Hi Blue, Glad you were able to call a friend for a ride. Not too long ago while teaching my daughter to drive, we got a flat tire twice in a matter of 3 days. She had this thing with hitting curbs. We were lucky too. The first time, a group of young guys were hanging about and ran right over and offered to help. I was so grateful as it was after midnight. The 2nd time was a little more of a hassle but not bad. We were close to home and mad it home but no more spare tire. I had to get a ride into work and do some creative budgeting in order to buy a new tire. Still, it could have been much worse.

Two flat ties in 3 days! Wow! That has never happen to me! My car got towed in the next morning to the garage. The garage was near by and they didn't charge much. I ended up having to replace 3 tires! Besides the flat and the leaking back one on the same side, the other front one had to be replaced! My friend baled me out again! I will pay him back soon! I rarely have money to pay for car repairs! Anyway if I didn't have a friend like I do,I would be screwed!

I have same experience like this. I was on my way to visit a friend who is also a mylotter. Then, just few meters away from her house, my tire blast (it stomp on a barbed wire- which looks like intentionally put in the right place) So,i called that mylotter/friend and she came to rescue. Well, the moral is,I never checked my spare tire. Good thing, the auto shop/vulcanizing shop is just walk away. But since I am not familiar with the place,I need that friend to assist me,since she knows the place better than I do.

I have a spare tire but I didn't ask my friend to help me change the bad tire! I am glad he didn't! It was after 8pm and pretty dark out! The garage that fixed my car picked it up the next morning and didn't charge must for the tow! Have no idea what made the tire to go flat!

I had to learn to change a tire, and the oil before my dad would let me get my license many a year ago. I still know how to change a tire, but jiffy lube etc are so cheap that it is not worth my time to do it myself. I have had to change tires, the best was when I was in a skirt and heels on the back roads. This was before everyone had a cell phone. I managed to do it myself, but looked like I had been run over by a car by the time I made it to the party that I was going to.

I never learned to change a tire or change oil! If I had to I probaly could change a tire. I have seen it done a number times so I know what to do. With the oil I can check it and add more when needed. When it needs to be changed I take it to Walmart or some other place that does oil changes.

I was out of the country and stranded in Canada when the engine blew in my van. This was before cell phones. Needless to say, it was a challenging situation.

I am so glad that I have a cellphone now! If I didn't I would of had to ask at someones home to use their phone! This is the second time it came in handy! Two years ago the transmission went out and I had to use the cell phone! Cell phones are great! Car problems aren't!
