What is saidto be the downfall of American Idoland why winners are struggling to sale albums.... Is the Audience that controls the show, Most of the Audience who votes are not people who votes for talent, instead its 12 to 14 year old girls...
Nothing against little girls but the show might suffer the same if little boys are the major Audience of the show. Most adult and older teen audience dont vote, they just watch... then complain if their bets get eliminated.
Ever since the "tween girl votes" dominated idol female contestants and older male contestants never had a chance... they just vote for the cute guy, they wont care regardless of his talent.
Then after winning they wont buy their album cos they will save their money to Justin Bieber.
I think if Little boys will be the dominating audience, they might just vote for the cool dude or the hotchick. so they can be as awful.I think older teens and adults should be the main voters not kids who dont buy albums.
Based of the most recent eliminations of X-factor,it seemed like the 12 year old girls votes are dominating again.
Melanie and Josh might be in trouble, they were not the type tween girls will vote for,Melanie is a woman,Josh is not an old man.
Why do the adult audience keeps on watching but not vote then complain if their bets got eliminated...
What do you think singing competitions needs to do to attract other demographics to vote for talent that can sell albums?

Who does buy the albums? I'm curious because I've never met anyone who would admit to it.
I think it is a catch22 with the audience voting. The audience has no taste and wouldn't recognise talent if it bit them on the behind - so a lot of the acts will reflect that. Because a lot of the acts reflect that anybody with any taste who recognised talent doesn't tend to vote or watch.

itunes downloads is actually considered as an album sale, you can actually buy whole albums in digital formi n itunes. Thats where most singers rely on nowadays but some people still buy cd's
the audience with taste basically dont vote, they just watch and complain if their bets got eliminated,
In American Idol the dominant voters are girls 12 to 15, Their tendencies are to vote for their "crush"
I guess if the majority of voters are boys 12-15the results will be as bad.
I really dont why why few adults votes, they keep on watching and complaining but they dont vote.
The twitter votes are free.
