Bank hold up my check

I wanted to deposit a convenient check, one of those checks from the credit card offer, which offer me 0% APR for the whole year, which I want to take it, so I can have some extra money to spend for this Christmas, yesterday at the bank counter, the teller hold up my check, and told me that will be $25 fee for it, and they have to take 60 to 90 days to verify it. I said "what, 2 - 3 months to verify a check like that." Last time, I remember that I deposited a convenient check at another branch, they didn't ask any Darn question, and I got the money 3 days after it. What is wrong with them, or different branch with different policy? I still waiting for their verification to go through, but the teller told me usually about 1 week or so, 60 - 90 days is the longest they will tell you. I hope that is a truth, and don't hold me up that long. Had anyone try to deposit a convenient check from those credit cards offer before? What is your experience with your bank, like this too much hassle?
