Counting your godchildren

Living in a Catholic country where most Filipinos are Catholics, baptism is one of the most important aspects of the baby. The oldies would not let the baby out of the house if the baby is not baptized yet. So, as soon as possible the baby has to be baptized and the parents have to prepare for the celebration and choose the Godfather and Godmother of their baby. Sometimes, even if their friends have different faith with them, they would still choose them as their baby’s Godparents. Last week, I and my husband were listing down our godchildren and sometimes my husband would even forget the name because he has a lot of his list, I think it’s more than 15 already. While I have few godchildren only, it’s around five and I am happy to say that I know all of the kids and I make sure that they know me, not only on Christmas day or on their birthdays. I think its better to have few godchildren so that I can guide them and help them when they needed it, which is the true essence of being a Godparent. So, anyway, how many Godchildren or “inaanak” do you have? Are you ready for your gifts this Christmas already?

I only have one godson, but he's like me, religion free.. lol :D While i have a catholic friend as well, he lets his nephew adopt my name, but he's not even my godson.. lol Is that allow in the religion? I don't mind sharing my name if it means something to them. After all, it's just a name and we all share common names.. haha The reason i have a godson is because he's my friend and i'm close to him

Hi! I think I've got at least 15 godchildren! Most of them are from my friends but I've got a few from neighbors which aren't my friends but they took me as their children's godmother because... I effin' don't know. Probably because of the rumor that I'm smart. Anyway, I have given early Christmas gifts to two of my godchildren so I still got tons left but I have not bought any gifts for them yet! ^^ I have done Christmas shopping today but I prioritized my gifts for my friends because I have the options to just give money to my godchildren. Normally, I give gifts because I don't like giving money but this season, I could not do any early Christmas shopping because I've been so busy and money came too late. lol

Gifts and Christmas Tree - How many gifts to prepare?
I only have one active godchild so far. The rest are non-active which means they no longer see me because either they've transferred to to other places or they've already gone too old to ask gifts. Nevertheless I am not spared because I still have lots of nephews and nieces and grandchildren by my nieces and nephews to be gifted so I am not spared. Nevertheless I don't really care. I love to give gifts. It makes me feel good when I give something really special for anyone. When I give gifts I make sure they will appreciate the gift. I've done all the shopping and just wrapping the gifts. Shopping and wrapping gifts I really so enjoy. But I've so far finished wrapping just 2 percent of all the gifts. I've placed those I've wrapped under my Christmas tree. I think once I've wrapped them all and place around the Christmas Tree, the tree won't be seen anymore.

During our first years of marriage, my husband has almost 30 god children visiting us during Christmas and New Year, while me, I have only 3 god children that lives away from our home so we don't see them often. But since last year, I notice that only few of my husband's godchildren are coming to our house while I am spending more for my inaanak because they numbers are really getting bigger. Thinking it out, the children did not lost interest on coming to our house but instead they are now grown ups. Most of them are now college students. While me, I am attending a baptismal again as a godparent this weekend, another one for the list. I don't give material gifts because I want the children to be happy every Christmas. I always gave them money so they could buy extra things which they really want and besides, that would be a lesser burden for me because I don't have extra time for shopping. Advance Merry Christmas!

Yeah, I agree with you, I only have one Godchild and sadly, I am far from him now, I don't know where they are living now. I do hope someday we will see each other.
