My tonsils are swollen & i think that I have tonsillitis. Is there any thing I can do to reduce the swelling or should I just go to the doctor for some antibiotics?

Ohhh!!! That is so uncomfortable! Having a tonsillitis is lessen your appetite, It is hard to swallow foods. Here is what I can suggest to reduce the tenderness. When you wake up in the morning try to gargle a luke warm water with salt.

Tonsillitis refers to acute inflammation of the tonsils, which lie, one on each side of the throat. Chronic tonsillitis is a term applied to cases in which there is enlargement of the tonsils accompanied by repeated attacks of infection. Lime is one of the most effective remedies in the treatment of acute tonsillitis. A fresh lime squeezed in a glass of warm water, with four teaspoons of honey and a quarter teaspoon of common salt, should be sipped slowly in such cases.

I had mine out. Plenty of Jello and Popsicle sticks, and rest as much as you can. Don't do any talking. It takes about one to two weeks to heal from surgery and the younger you are, the easier it is.

here in the Philippines it is said that eating green or raw papaya will cure tonsillitis. i think there is something in the raw papaya that will help take away the swelling in the tonsils. this is just a home remedy for tonsillitis in my country but if this does not work then we always go to the doctor for some medication and hopefully not surgery.

cool it down with ice cream or ice cubes, keep swallowing (drinking is fine too). Kinine can help (it's also in tonic water over here). antibiotics you can start with if it's not getting better in some days.

Hello~ There are some remedies that might work for me but might not work for you so I think going to the doctor is the best idea. The doctor will prescribe you the right medicine to avoid further infection in your tonsils.
