I know it not doing the entertainment industry any good but really, pirated dvds are so tempting! They are so cheap and if you know how and where to look them, you can really buy good quality copies. I wish there is an alternative way but watching movies in theaters or buying the original disks are way sooo expensive. One thing I could think of is downloading movies online but it is just the same as buying pirated movies, right? Do you guys buy pirated movies? Honestly.

Hi girl_thinking If only the Original DVDs came at an affordable price, there would have been no piracy. But yes, in the parts of the world where we belong to... the prices are high and piracy rampant. Even at times you cannot be sure that the copy you are buying from an authorized retail outlet is the Original or the Pirated. So always better to get one from the pirates... at least that way I am sure I am getting a pirated version Long live Piracy...

Recently, at a friends place, we tried to view one Bollywood (local Hindi) movie on Eros (Eros a VDO Company that has rights of many Bollywood flicks). Once we got on their site, we kept receiving a message for almost any online movie they had - "People in Your Country are not Allowed to View This Content". Hey, we are willing to pay, have invested in Broadband just to see these movies online and now you say we cannot view them. Okay. You cannot be smarter. Then I download a piece of software - that is free - which changes the IP (which is technically the base from which it identifies which Country or zone we belong to) and yey! we could see the Video without any further blockages or interruptions. Now isnt that Piracy too? I would never have done that if they allowed me to watch at the first go!

Wow that is a good find! I always see sites which offer free movies online but when I try a movie, it always say that it is not yet available in our country or viewing is allowed only in the U.S. Lately, I am having trouble with my internet connection and I find it hard to watch a whole movie. It takes forever to buffer

Haha, that is funny! You make sure that what you have is pirated. Yeah, for all we know the high priced items from the stores could also be pirated ^^

I use to purchase pirated DVDs, but now I download them myself, with caution of course from my internet provider as some regulate what you do online. But I download all my movies from school using torrents saving me plenty of money from DVDs. So I have stopped buying them generally. I also download video games, the ones that don't require online gameplay.

Ha ha, yea I download in private. A few of my friends in the dorms told me they limit your internet when they know you have torrents opened, but in the lecture rooms the school has very little control that they pretty much gave up.

There a lot of pirated movies here in our place being sold. But I don't buy it. Instead, I just download movies in the internet. I admit I bought one but it was long ago already back when I don't have internet yet in the house.

They really are very tempting considering the big difference in price when compared to the original or when viewed in cinemas. I can honestly say that I've only bought less than 5 or 10 of them in my whole existence. I would like to help the movie industry in my own little way, that is buying only the originals. Also, I read an article that profits made from selling pirated goods help in funding terror groups. Keeping that in mind, we should all now settle for the originals :)

Profits are used for funding terror groups? Is that in general? I don't think so. But nevertheless, you are correct about settling for the originals. If only they are not so expensive....

Well, maybe some but not all. I mean, I believe ordinary people sell pirated dvds for their own income to support their families :)

Not sure about the percentage of the profit that is being used or shifted to those groups.

that's what I thought at first. but I shared this to my uncle and he said to me "The experience of watching a quality movie is different when you watch it on the big screen compared to watching it at home. except when you have your own movie house at home then it will be a different story :)

Oh, those kinds of cds usually hang. I mean, they play very slow and then they stop. I don't know, maybe it just depends on the copy..

Hi Miss... I'm a complete a theatre guy... Almost all of the movies that I've watched, have been in theatre only.. I have not started making a collection of DVDs yet... But I'll start with it soon... Its understandable that one can always get pirated ones at low cost. And yet it hurts the conscience to buy them... Instead you should download, I know its felony; but compared to pirated DVDs its magnitude is less... LOL.. I don't know how, I just feel it... Take care...

LOL, who doesn't buy them? My father has got 2 carton full of them dvds, not including the ones he already sold to his friends because we have not much space left to put those dvds in. I love theaters, if only they were not so expensive, i would be spending most of my time there. downloading movies I don't do, my computer is old and i don't want to make it crazier than it already is.

Me too! My pc memory is so low but I cannot change its part separately since what I have is very old. I need to upgrade the whole thing!

Right! So tempting, hehehe! It is not that we want to patronize pirated DVDs, it is the cost of original DVDs that's preventing me to buy them. If I know that I'm going to use the DVD for a long time, say, need it for my classes for movie reviews, then I'd buy the original ones. It is worth the investment that way. Plus, I get good quality subtitles. There were times when the pirated ones I bought were deemed useless because I couldn't understand the English translation in the subtitles. A total waste of money! Lately, I've resorted to renting DVDs at Video City. That way, I am still patronizing original ones.

I tried once because pirated dvd's are very affordable, but still I got disappointed when I play the Dvd! its very dark that I can really understand and seen those characters. Very poor quality that get me irritated because that movie is the one I really wanted to watch but when I play it . Its really nothing very dark. So I stopped buying those pirated dvd's . Even the original dvd's are quite expensive, atleast it will give us a good satisfactions for the better quality. So I prefer original dvd's than pirated.

I'm a movie lover. Indeed I watch around 3-5 movies everyday. I just download them because its convenient for me. But I'm not a fan of buying pirated DVDs. I used to buy original copies but now since I love to watch movies, I can't buy all the DVDs in stores just to watch them once, so I prefer to download. I just buy DVDs of my favorite movies. In this case, I'll not spend too much money. I also watch some in theaters. :)
