I have been a schizophrenic for the last two decades and this illness has made me more resilient and tough. The downside is that fear will most often be your only companion and the first few years can be daunting to say the least. But as you get used to living with schizophrenia, you will find ways to overcome this fear and your quality of living will improve. My question to people with this illness is,how do you deal with it,and can you say with confidence that life is not a living Hell,as most people with schizophrenia relate their life to ?

Yes, it is a mental nightmare for the patient, in order to get out of the living hell inside the head, the patient need immediate attention from a certified psychiatrist, failure to do so will result in prolong suffering and more complication later. Paying a visit to a well trained therapist will improve the hellish condition in the mind of the patient, seeking immediate help is the only way out of it.

I don't have it. but my husband does, and I married him all the same. it's very hard at the acute stage, but when it is well managed, it's not so bad. he still can't work, but he's a happy and positive person, and has a good quality of life. I would hate for anyone to think that a diagnosis is being sentenced to a "living hell" when it's perfectly possible to live a good and happy life.
