I have lived in Amman,Jordan for 2 years. My stay there was very memorable. I have learned the language because it is required in order to communicate with the patients. I enjoyed picking apples and grapes from the garden during their season. I climbed the almond tree during spring time to have a picture of the flowers in bloom. They are lovely.I love picking the figs and eating them fresh. I love the apricots too. At spring time we go to Jerash, the Temple of Artemis, Petra, Aqaba, Dead Sea, and many other places of interest. I also learned to love their food especially the 'dolma' which is the rolled grape leaves stuffed with beef. What i love most is the 'upside down' . Hmmm, I missed it a lot. Hope to have the time to prepare it this christmas

What a beautiful experiences you had while in a foreign country. I have never uprooted myself from my birthplace to live in a strange place and learn new things from different culture. You are lucky to have visited many places and learn the culture of the places you visited. I have never thought of venturing to a foreign land to work except for short vacations. It is good to be adventurous as it adds up to a learning experience.

You are right zandi. Going to other places and learning their culture helps gain a wider perspective of things. It makes us see beyond the things we experience, observe and think of. Being adventurous is so much fun and yet it is also risky. You can yourself and yet there is that excitement and thrill that goes with it.:-) When we have experienced living in a different culture , we tend to be more understanding of other people; their practices, behaviour, customs and traditions. we tend to be more friendlier and we develop our sense of identity and patriotism.
