Some of you may be aware that I have started my own business...I initially started out with a facebook group for it (& still have the group) but now I have business cards which I am handing out whenever I can & I also have a professional website with paypal checkout....My question for those with business websites, where do you promote your websites? I am promoting on facebook groups, facebook market place, in person, notice boards, I even have had it in the easyhits4u circuit...where are some other great places to promote?

I too have started a business this year, and I have gone the same route as you (even easyhits4u!). So, I wanted to get in here to maybe get some ideas. After a few months of soul-searching, I've decided to create my own market. There's a lot of community groups around me doing their weekend thing. I've decided to be-friend the heads of these group so I could get invited into their activities. Next year, I'm going to set up booths during their activity so they could personally try my products. I'm hoping that this would give them an idea on the products I sell, and maybe create a new market.

Yep I had cards made. But I didn't do all out and made a lot. I just have the design, and print out as many as I need (still trying to save here and there), and cut them myself. Hope 2012 would be good for us!

Hey, sorry that I did not reply to your asking of this question on Skype last week. I read it and meant to reply later as I was very busy, but then completely forgot about it! We primarily promote our business through our mailing list (which is quite large, over 12,000 subscribers last I looked) or our Twitter account and our Facebook page which has 1500 likes. But this is now that we are established. In the early days while trying to get the word out there, I used traffic exchanges like easyhits4u with geo-targeting, but they did little as the audience was not targeted in terms of interest. Stumbleupon and other social sites like that are good as people only see what they are interested in. I also promoted by building Squidoo Lenses. I also joined social networks that were dedicated to our industry and got a little active in them which led to some exposure. My primary aim in joining these sites was not to get people to buy something from me though. Instead I gave them something. I heavily promoted our free ebook which is one of the best raw food ebooks on the net in my opinion. Much the same way that I have on my profile here and by talking about it to you! So in order for people to receive our free ebook, they have to subscribe to our mailing list. This is why we have such a large list from all over the world. And for those people that are on the other side of the world and not going to buy directly from us, we often put affiliate links to other people's promotional offers in our newsletter which brings in additional income. I hope that this gives you some ideas.

This does give me some ideas...i guess I could try to find some electronic forums where I could mention I have cheap phone cases & craft forums for my hand made items...as you know, I have a group for my business on facebook & whenever I add items, I promote on the buy sell swap sites around the country...I also promote it on another forum site - Gather & have a friend there who does photography & his stuff is going to be added to my site too once prices are worked out. I am putting my business cards on notice boards around the place too & have sent some to my friend in Bundy as she does the markets too.

I would have thought that one place to promote was here, at myLot, on your profile.
