I was in a church service. The officiating minister announced happily that it was time for Praise and Worship. He introduced the praise leader and the church erupted into a thunderous shout/clap for joy. Pretty exciting atmosphere. The praise leader for that morning was a beautiful lady but on taking a second and more closer look at her face, the following came into view: She had a bright red lipstick, hair braided artificially to waist length, finger nails painted black, pencil heel shoes and a very tight body hug blouse. One can actually design and draw her shape from the tight clothing (figure 8). I kept wondering, should this lady go to this length just before coming out to lead worship before God? Is this what God demands? Could this lead people astray? what differentiates her from the pop singers out there?.... the questions kept coming. Can someone help us here?

First, I believe that God is bigger than a tube of lipstick. I believe that as for me, I try to put on my best to go before the Lord to worship. I think that it would have to be God to convict her heart if her appearance would lead people to look at her and not the direction she pointing them during worship. I think if her clothing led someone to think of wrong thoughts or into judgement, then only God can judge the motive of his heart.

mscny3, thanks but come to think of it, does God actually accept all that painting, wigs, etc when He knows how He made you and what He deposited in you? Have you ever read 2Kings 9:30-37? Even the dogs that ate the carcass of Jezebel refused the head, feet and hands; the parts of her body she painted. I also put on my best to appear before the Lord in corporate worship but what do you mean by the best? Do not forget that we are not judging people here but correcting and educating ourselves with the Holy Spirit guiding. Do you know what the man thinks; if she has too much blings, I wouldn't be able to afford her hence the man moves away and the sister keeps praying for a husband and finds none in the midst of uncauntable potential husbands within the church. Very few men are ready for that sort of thing and even these few usually curtail it after wedding.

The beauty of a woman is not and should not be based on outward adorning. Many of my sisters are turning the church into a place were facing painting should be displayed for attraction. If God accepts all these stuffs, it therefore means that the distractions and the foul odour some of these ladies carry along are equally accepted. Why then was there incense in the tabernacle after the slaughtering and offering of the animals? Some of these ladies, sorry to say this, stink with the stuffs they rub and spray; even some ladies take-cover to avoid the dours sticking on them. There are sweet smelling perfs from the stores but the ugly smells from some ladies are so offensive you cannot share a pew with them comfortably without feeling nauseous. The lady you referred to may have painted but after that encounter, she can't remain the same again. I am not interested, in this thread, on what non-believers do but what the sisters are doing withtin the church.

It is certainly not what God demands, I doubt if God really cares what you wear, certain Churches have a tradition of plain dress. But such dress as she exhibited is perhaps distracting from the purpose of attending Church and to me, smacks a little of vanity all the best urban

We must learn to forget our wordly aspirations and prides when we go to worship all the best urban

what are all these paintings about? if one has grown old, paintings would not erase the fact. if one has bodily scars on the face, etc make-ups and paintings cannot permanently remove them. Get used to yourself and sooner, the people around you would appreciate the real you and not the fake person parading around.
