http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/tsunami-victim-reportedly-found-alive-after-seven-years/2011/12/22/gIQAekPZBP_blog.html After hearing story after story of people fighting over the Air Jordan shoes, I was feeling very depressed & saddened over the Christmas spirit!!! Then on the local news tonight they were telling about an 8 year old child that was swept away during the 2004 Tsunami in Indonesia & assumed dead. Her family grieved after being unable to locate their daughter. Here it is 7 years later & the once 8 year old girl has worked her way back to her family. The only thing she could remember was the name of the village she lived in & the name of her grandfather. The above link doesn't explain this, but the news report said she was found in a mound of debris by a woman miles from her village who took her in & cared for her. The now 15 year old found her grandfather & is now reunited with her parents & new brother!!! What a WONDERFUL story to hear after all the horror stories that have emerged during this holiday season!!! What are your thoughts on this miracle???

Wow!! This would be considered a Christmas miracle for sure. It is interesting that after all these yrs. she could remember her Grandfathers name and they were able to be reunited. Personally this is the Best present her family could ever get at this time of yr. Many prayers and tears must have been felt over the yrs.

I can only imagine the undeniable despair the Mother must have felt as she searched for her missing child...then having to face the fact that the Tsunami was so devastatingly powerful that the child could not have survived. Once again, I can only imagine the GREAT JOY the Mother felt when she looked into the eyes of that child & realized that she was indeed the daughter that she had grieved for all those years!!! At the same time, I feel some sadness for the woman who cared for that lost little girl & now has to share her with her "real" family!!! Yet, I can understand the girl's need to reunite with her natural family!!! Even though she wasn't kidnapped & held hostage, I find this a miracle of the magnitude of Jaycee Dugard!!!

That is miraculous! That was so devastating, so horrifying when it happened, I just could not conceive of the enormous power of that wave--it was almost like watching a movie and I felt the same way when watching video of the one in Japan. The power of the ocean is frightening and chilling to the bone. The thought of that little girl and others being swept away by the ocean is heartbreaking but even tragic calamities like this one show us that miracles can happen. I'm very happy for that girl and her family! Stories of those shopping crowds discouraged me a bit, too, but I had to go out for cat food for my strays on Friday. Oh, it was so crowded on the streets of my little city! But guess what? Everywhere, people were letting other cars pull in front of them from store exits, making room for people making left turns into traffic and being very considerate of one another. At the store I saw people let hurried shoppers or mothers with fussy children in front of them in line. People seemed happy! It made me glad I'd run out of cat food.

I fear very little in life; but Mother Nature scares the crap out of me...she doesn't care who or what you are; you best get out of her way!!! Your experience at the store yesterday is very encouraging!!! My TV was on yesterday as I surfed the net & I heard one guy say that he didn't believe that people are as full of hatred as the press portrays. He said when he gets sucked up in the hatred shown on the news, he just goes & sits in the main terminal at his nearest airport. He pointed out that NOBODY pushes away the person there to meet them saying don't touch me...NO, they hug & kiss each other with passions of love!!! He also pointed out that the last calls on Sept 11 were ALL calls of love NOT calls of hatred. Sadly, the closest airport to my sleepy little town is almost 100 miles away. When I was younger, I'd get up & leave early in the morning...spending most of my day watching people at the airport doing their thing. I'd laugh at some & smile with others. I must admit that I always had a really good time & returned home feeling happy!!! Of course, way back then gas was $0.29/gallon & you could park for FREE all day. Now gas is over $3.00 & it cost $25 a day to visit. I really enjoy the stories of miracles that pop up this time of year & a Mother discovering that her missing child is still alive is most definitely one of those stories!!!

That's amazing and certainly uplifting. It is easy to lose the Christmas spirit when you see stuff on TV about fights and crime. We can all use a miracle every once in a while even if it's not our directly.

I'm finding it extremely disheartening to see people throwing punches over a pair of shoes or a video game!!! That is JUST STUFF...and NOT even important stuff!!! Yes, I cried when I heard of the Mother finding her daughter is alive at Christmas. It was almost as if it had happened to me!!! It has been my observation that we are more directly affected by other's miracles than we are by our own...It's almost like a ray of hope!!!
