Hi, I joined the site ExpertsColumn a few days ago and am having quite a bash there. However, I had a problem which I think fellow writers on the site can address. When I tweeted one of my first articles on the site, I got my twitter account suspended. There is the long list of sharing options right below where the article ends. The options are like Facebook, Twitter, Digg etc. These are words with links to share the articles. I clicked the WORD "Twitter" and shared my article. I discovered that I got the account suspended. I didn't know how. I met another writer there. He also did the same and got his account suspended as well. Which sharing option should I use as a writer - the one with the WORD/LINK "Twitter" or the one with the red cross on the toolbar. One of my friends is also a writer there. He suggested me to use the toolbar share button, if I have to use Twitter sharing. According to him, that is the one for the writers. However, my older friend got his Twitter account even when he shared with the toolbar sharing option. What's the problem? As I didn't do it yet, I still have my account intact. Please address my query so that the path is cleared. I have also written to Ec, but no reply yet. In a nutshell: According to the image here - a writer should use the button pointed with the arrow if he has to share his own article with Twitter and the one encircled should be used by visitors.

Question: why would Twitter suspend your account for using a share button?

It would be better if you answer this question yourself. I am out of wits and am totally confused why this is happening. Various doubts come to my mind like are Indian members not allowed such type of sharing... But when I asked some of my friends from India who are also the members of the site, they are sharing it coolly. Another thought that touches my mind is that, EC allows content from other sites as well - already published articles. Is it due to this that Twitter is suspending the account? When this happened with me initially, I thought it is me who is doing something wrong. But my friend also got two of his accounts suspended. Now what's the explanation to this?

They consider it spamming. When you share a link or article via third party software you're violating TOS. :) You can't post the same url or content over and over again within 24hours.

Buddy, you got it absolutely wrong. If you read my other responses on this discussion (Read the one given to reallysuny) or even the immediate above response to Spike, there were nothing like breaking the rules. My friend got this twitter account just for tweeting his posts and thereby increasing the pageviews. With the new account he shared only 3 links - only three tweets. And the account got suspended. Where does the question of tweeting the links like spamming arise. He created the account posted 3 links and got suspended. The account did not last even for 5 minutes, let alone for 24 hours or doing anything like spamming (even if he wanted to).

As others said share button has nothing to do with the suspension of your account . This has happened to many of my friends in this month itself . They contested it and they got back their accounts . You can always write to the support from your twitter page itself . I am sure it will help you . If you have gone against twitter rules like following people aggressively or yielded to spamming etc. then the case is different and I don't think you will get back your account . All the best

I guess you are from India? Are you a member of EC too? If yes how on earth do you tweet your links? Is EC not allowing to tweet as they are paying with double CPM rates? Where did your friends ask for help - to twitter or EC. By the way I have written to Twitter. I again repeat, I haven;t done anything to break the rules as I already have two suspended accounts. I am very careful when following and tweeting. If I haven't done any of this, why is still my and my friend's account suspended?

Hello, nice to hear that you have made things easy for me and showed a way. If you are speaking about the Twitter button on the page that is denoted by the arrow in the image, then that is what I have heard, a writer should do to tweet his own articles. I also have the shareaholic account and use it. But since this calamity has struck, I didn't use it either. When you put your friend's example, it shows that their accounts were also suspended. But what was the reason behind it? The same that I mentioned in my query above? You and some of the other friends who have mentioned the same things over and over again makes me feel that there is nothing to do with the button or EC? Then why on earth an account that has been created just 5 mins ago be suspended? There does not seem to be any logical reason behind this? The question to ask now is, are your friends using their twitter accounts - the one those were made active again by Twitter?? Are they now using it to tweet the EC articles? That is my main concern. Just getting accounts back would not help much, if I am not able to tweet my EC articles. Please respond......

Hi I am from India and I am a member of EC too . I twit using shareaholic button and with the twitter button on the page as well . I am having no problems . My friend contested the suspension of his twitter a/c by writing to the support of twitter and when the support ticket was send to him through mail he replied to that mail requesting the withdrawal of suspension and after a week or so the problem was resolved and he got back his account . I reiterate neither EC nor the share buttons have any role in the suspension of your a/c . Hope this helps you.
