No puter and here I am on myLot. Got the kids a Kindle fire. Pretty cool though I am not sure how everything works. Like how do you do a control c to search?' And editing errors is a pain. But it's fast. Pretty cool. Does your house have a new gadget?

No new gadgets here, just a couple bikes, but I am sure once you get the hang of that Kindle, you will be here a lot more often..

Okay, 1) Is this something the kids school allows, or will it be something that will be taken away if used during class? (A good reason for them to leave it at home) 2) Though the wifi is restricted at work, there is always lunch break and many places have unrestricted wifi..:)

That's 1) if the kids let me take it to work and 2) if I can get an unrestricted wifi connection there.

Not all Kindles are created equal..lol. I have a Kindle Fire and ordered it when it first came out as an early Christmas present from my hubby. I have tried it on Facebook and it works but easier to use my computer. I got a Netbook last year and and a Nook. Although the netbook is easy it isn't as compact as the Fire. I haven't tried to come here and use it. But I did buy Angry Birds for it! Whoop! My daughter in law got one from my son too, and yesterday I watched my 6 year old grand daughter play games on it. Pretty cool for such a little electronic device. Glad you are enjoying yours, cause I sure am enjoying mine! My daughter in law has already borrowed library books with hers and bought one book. She is in love with it!!

I actually think it is a better deal than an iPad and I know it is cheaper! May not have all the bells and whistles, but it does everything I need it to do. I read books all the time and this gives me lots of options for color magazine and movies too. Thanks for the discussion!

The kids are having fun with it, although I think they would rather have had an iPad.

Heya Dawn! Nope, no new gadgets. But now we do have Netflex! I have to do it through the kids' Wii - so that got some getting used to because I never play on the Wii. My son and I actually saw and touched a Kindle for the first time a couple months ago at the college bookstore . . . I am surely behind in the high tech world! Merry Late Christmas and Happy New Year to you and the kids!

I've been considering getting a kindle fire. I figure it's more affordable then an Ipad and basically the same. Glad to hear you like it so far. My new gadget for Christmas is a Canon Rebel slr camera. I'm still getting used to it and hoping to eventually be good enough to make some money taking pictures.

No puter is not the end of the road as there are so many other means to be in the virtual world. The market has been invaded with all sorts new gadgets to upgrade us to be in tune with the latest technology. Just close an eye to errors as not all gadgets are equipped with spell checker. I still prefer to be with my table top computer as any new gadgets will send me to my confused world.

My son got a new iPod Touch this year. It was like the iPad we got last year, but a lot smaller! And it's pretty cool to get all the apps, and games, and even transfer my books through the iCloud. But it was a struggle during the weekend when there was no work and school. Everybody wanted their turn on it (including me)!

No we don't have new gadget this year as we don't think we need any of them.(^^) Perhaps next year if nothing happen and I can afford to have the new one I would love to have a new phone. It seems something wrong with the one I have now. I still hope I can use this one in longer time.

Good for you! I would like to get an Ipad, but do not have the funds for it.I do not know how I feel about reading a book in an e-reader.I usually buy my books at 2nd hand stores, they are tooo expensive otherwise.I would have to check how muck are they for Kindle,if it is worth buying one!I read quite a lot.

I'm sure they are cheaper for Kindle, but there's always the library.

I was about to buy it, though I had to import it since it's an US-only gadget. It would have been considerably more expensive because they do not directly ship outside the US. But then I read some review about it, saying it was not a big deal, and that was just cool but not really useful. Then I decided to chew it over, and in the end I decided I would buy an iPad instead. I like ipads, and I'm still saving to buy it, but I believe it's much worth it than a kindle fire.

Yep and for once it's me who got the new gadget, not HIM. My son bought me a Nook Color. It's probably a lot like the Kindle fire. eReader, web browser, emails, books (Barnes & Noble), movies and TV shows (via Netflix), magazines, newspapers and games (Angry Birds!!! ). I haven't gotten much past the games, though. I did set up my email account on it and created a Barnes and Noble account and have watched a couple of movies on Netflix and bought a couple of games but I haven't really "played" with it to learn all the cool stuff it does. Once the novelty all the movies and games that are available wears off a bit, I'll peruse the available books to see what I can sink my brain into. I have no idea how to do a control c to search. Sorry. Have you decided what to do about your computer yet? New screen or new computer? I love my netbook, they don't cost much, relatively speaking (just sayin').

We have one of those Kinects for the Xbox. I haven't hooked it up yet to see how it works but I have a feeling I will be sore tomorrow if we hook it up tonight. I got my daughter a dance pad once years ago and we stayed uo all night dancing...I could barely move the next day...couldn't let her know it though

Hi dawnlad Merry Christmas I was made aware of the newer version of Kindle by my Client. This is not yet available in India and the older Kindle is a little more expensive right now. Oh yes, it is a kool gadget no doubt but there have to be some drawbacks (just to ensure that the people would go for the next release when it is ready). I have booked a Tablet for me a few days back - It is an Indian Made Version from Canada based Firm and it is known as Ubislate. Their Indian verison, Aakash, was already out of stock and no one here is sure when they will deliver but I did get a confirmation email stating my Booking ID. So I hope that it is not SCAM. They havent asked for any monies yet.

My husband and I do for new cell phones this year. We got the galaxy II G4 phones. I had no idea a phone could do so much. We have yet to figure it all out. I'm just curious if Cary will be using the new gadget or is he on restriction unless you are in the room. Best Wishes!

Not on restriction, but he had to pay for part of the laptop repair.
