Since I was a child I'm more excited celebrating the new year than christmas. True that christmas is more important than new year but for some reason our family prepares more food during new year than christmas and it seems to be a tradition already. What do you think about this? Is new year more exciting than christmas?

When I was a child, New Years was always the bigger thing whether we were just sitting around watching movies and eating popcorn or if we were doing more of the cooking, baking and snacking. Christmas was never a big thing with my family and more often then not we had christmas in january. As an adult now, Christmas is more for my kids and new years is for me and my husband so I get more excited about new years.

Hi Jacruz! For me, Christmas is more exciting than New Year. True, there's more food during New Year but it is during Christmas that I prepare and give gifts and receive gifts. I also give gifts during New Year but only to my godchildren who were not able to come during Christmas. And it's also during Christmas that there's a lot of party.

Christmas has always just lead to a certain amount of excitement. Granted, it is really a lesser amount of excitement in some years than there is others. Still deep down, there is just some joy that I have had, from the Christmas season. There is just something about the season that does in fact put a grand smile on my face, that really is something that is great and that is wonderful. New Year's on the other hand, is just another day of the year for me. It is not something. The only thing special is obviously going to be the change of the calendar. Therefore, it is just a kind of a ho hum celebration as the year just concludes and another one happened. Hopefully some good times, but more of the same some years. Still hopefully 2012 will be a good one.

I don't know, I am equally excited for both! Maybe sometimes I feel happier about Christmas day because it's the beginning of the holidays and it feels like I have more than a week of free time, while after new years eve I start thinking about working again and it makes me sad. In terms of food, I believe that our Christmas table is significantly bigger, with all the traditional dishes. By the time of the new year I have already started feeling guilty for what I have eaten this whole time! However, the New Year's day is very exciting because it is the beginning of a new year with new opportunities and challenges!

I do not get as excited over new years eve, as i do when it is christmas, the reason i think is, to me, christmas is when we get to sit and have a meal with all of the family.New years eve is seeing the new year in with a few friends as well as family.

Hello, For me and this just my opinion that Christmas is way better than New Year! Christmas is for family here in the USA and everything and everyone slows down for a little while. When I think of the New year my heart races because will it be a good one.... will there be big problems.... so many un expected surprises and some may good and some maybe bad... the thought of going back to work for another whole year. Thanks Unique16

this is a really hard to choose. Both of the days are equally important days for everyone.people love to enjoy both of these days utmost.Christmas eve signifies arrival of the new year with its departure.people dont find despair thinking the eve has gone but eagerly waiting to see and enjoy the first day of a new year.Celebration journey that starts from 25th dec rolls on to 1st jan.everywhere people become so lively.picnic and traveling adorns it.For me both are great.

I guess we must draw a clear distinction about these two occasion. New year is an exciting moment that everyone celebrates as the new year arrives. People prepare foods, performance and lots of decoration everywhere. Most would believe that new year is a new beginning which can be a good turn for one's life. Christmas on the other hand is not really an occasion to get excited about. The real point of this celebration is to remember Jesus. The day he was born. Of course, it is not the excitement that com to play, rather it is how we make this occasion meaningful. So yeah, most likely New Year celebration is more exciting than Christmas because they serve different purpose. Merry Christmas and Happy new year to you.

i love Christmas its way better because my family gets all together and we make so much food and on top of that we get presents and decorate the house it just feels like a good time and new years we just watch tv and wait for the countdown . so boring in newyears.
