Weight limit I can lift ?

I am 19 years old . I do workout thrice a week . Sometimes I go to the gym with my friends . They are older than me . But I usually do it at home . At the gym, I lift objects that heavier than my weight . My friends said, it's not good for my health . But I wonder, what is the maximum limit I can lift ? My weight is 55kg .

It will vary depending on several factors: -How long have you been lifting weights? -Have you increased gradually your weight limits from time to time? -Do you eat and rest properly? -Do you actually follow an appropiate program or just go with whatever it is that you want to do? -Do you train properly in regards to posture, movements and protection when required? And last but most important, every body is different, two persons might be 19 year olds, have the same height and weight 55kgs but one could be stronger that the other, there is no rule on that, the factors mentioned before could be a starting guideline to know if what you are doing is ok.
