Have you walked the Appalachian Trail?

Every year I spend a week near Harrisonburg, VA and we always go to a restaurant near the Appalachian Trail. I see people hiking on the Trail, some are hiking through the whole 2,000 plus miles from Georgia to Maine. Anyone out there ever walk the Trail?

I had planned on starting it from Springer Mountain tomorrow but a knee injury / surgery postponed it. I may have to do two section hikes or put it off until the spring of 2017
