Is it possible to make money from chatting sites?

Hello friends, I know its funny but is it true that we can make money from chatting sites like paltalk or any other. Some people who i know are already making money from paltalk(a online chatting site). They simply buy a paid nick(green or any other) and open their own room and then start making money from their room by posting advertising banners, paid links etc. Anybody have some idea and if you have then please share it
