How Can I Decorate My Kindle Fire's Cover?

I bought a case for my Kindle Fire. It's dark blue. It fits the Kindle wonderfully, but it's so well, plain. I wanted green originally, but I was afraid it would be too bright so I got blue instead. Now, I love crafts and I want to decorate it somehow. I'm not quite sure how. It's a faux leather case. You can check it out here: http://www.amazon.com/CaseCrown-Standby-Amazon-Kindle-Tablet/dp/B005TN0OA4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325183729&sr=8-1 (Not a referral link)

Maybe I could put some kind of sticker/skin on the front of it? I just want to personalize it somehow. Any ideas or suggestions[/b]?

That's a very pretty cover!
You could put some lace around it and maybe glue something pretty on, like whatever your favorite thing is (strawberries, horses, dragonflies). You can get them at craft stores, I think.
I would not decorate it. It's very pretty as is and not at all conspicuous. If you make it special someone might see it among your books or whatever and if they notice it they might just decide they want it for themselves! Blending in is the best way to keep your stuff safe.

Hot glue would be what I would use. Carrying it around will eventually make the stickers fall off, I would imagine. I hope you'll take a picture of the final result, whatever it is, and share it with us!

Thanks!
I know whatcha mean. I didn't want to make it extremely flash, just enough to say 'Hey, this belongs to me!' and not every other person, you know? I just wanted something simple, not like a giant flashing neon light.
Lace sounds like a nice idea. How would I adhere that to the cover? Just hot glue? Or self adhesive stickers like the ones you see for scrapbooking, maybe?

i would make a visit to Michaels or Walmart and take a look at their craft section. I don't know how long stickers would actually stick to the case though but stickers are a good idea to personalize it. how about painting or even if you are brave, stitching? (i dont know how thick the case is).

The case is probably too thick for stitching. If I could draw or paint, I would, but that's definitely not my specialty. Maybe I can grab a silver calligraphy pen and write my name on it in calligraphy or something. What do you think?

I would paint, but I'm definitely not a good artist in that sense. I'm creative, but I definitely don't have a drawing or painting talent. Thanks for the suggestion though! Any other ideas?

They do have stencils so you don't have to be too artistic, in fact, I've seen where they can do pretty complicated things with various colors all on a stencil.
so far, tho, paint and I are just at basic levels, because I don't have things I want to paint too much... either large one color things or small highlights...

I see. Hmm. Sounds interesting. What kind of paint would I use?

I see. Thanks anyway1 What kind of stickers did she use? How did she glue them on so they didn't fall off?

Faux leather damages no matter what you do to it if you want something to last and not be scratched off or whatever. Gluing to faux leather definitely will damage the cover and whatever you glue to it will also.
Depending on where I intend to use it, I'd be more likely to leave the cover alone and keep it inconspicuous. Personalizing some popular items only tend to draw attention to them and make them items for theft. I have a Kindle Fire, but the cover I chose has a strap on the front to tuck things under like a note or whatever.
You could make a fabric design and glue it to the cover. Just tuck the edges under making sure they are also glued to the fabric first. Even a quilted design could be used. Then you have a nice flat surface that when the Fire is slid in between other things it would be less likely to loose the cover embellishments.
I'm not a big fan of glue, cause my experience is it comes loose sooner or later or sticks to well, that when you're using it you better not make a mistake or the damage created cannot be undone.
I wouldn't paint it, that kind of surface doesn't tend to hold paint well regardless of any pretreatment in my opinion. I personally would probably work with a fabric design and glue that on. You can paint fabric with a monogram or whatever and then someday you might have a better chance of changing the design when you get tired of it.

I didn't want to personalize is too much. Thanks for the suggestions though. I decided not to paint it. Someone added rhinestones to it, but I'm not sure how she got them to stick well without falling off!
