I have a 6 month old boy who was born with club foot (for those who may not be aware, his foot turned inward and would not correct itself on its own) He has to wear special shoes at night and is constantly in socks. When he was younger he had to wear these shoes for 23 hrs of the day. From wearing the show constantly they have a sweaty stinky foot smell to them and now his feet always smell like his shoes. Anyone know how to get foot odour out of plastis and leather?

The smell is from the bacteria that grows in the moisture. Have you tried spraying the shoes with lysol? Fabreeze? And then let them dry good. If his feet smell soak them in baking soda and water and wash and dry them good. :) All my kids seem to have gone through a phase during school when they wore the same shoes all day day after day. Had to make them take their shoes off outside and soak there feet in baking soda and warm water...it worked.

I am afraid to damage the shoes so I haven't really tried anything yet. I'll have to try the baking soda, thanks for the idea

Hi, @shiesse! Is alum available in your country? It's very effective. Try it. You can make your own liquid alum.

I just talked to my hubby who was in the Army and those men wear shoes for very long periods of time. He says to clean the babies feet well and then get some activated charcoal and put it in the shoes and leave it there until you clean his feet every night and repeat indefinitely. It deodorizes the shoe and the socks, so his feet should not smell. Thanks for the discussion!

My daughter has horribly stinky feet as well, and I started putting a deodorant with antiperspirant on her feet before she wears anything other than sandals. It seems to have helped a bit.
