I love to read! As long it is interesting to me I will read it. I read anything and everything- from books and magazines to the ingredients and nutritional facts of my food. I am a very fast reader as well. I can read a book or more in a day. I have probably read enough books to fill a small library. I am glad I have passed my love of reading to my children. We all have plenty of books as well as kindles. How about you? Do you like to read? What is your favorite author or book?

I love to read. My favorite author must be Ian McEwan, I loved the books "On Chesil Beach", "Enduring Love" and "Atonement". Furthermore, I also love German writers like Günter Grass or Martin Walser. The Dutch writer Arthur Japin is marvellous at telling any story from any point of view. The latest book I've read was "Time's Arrow" from Martin Amis, you should definitely try that one, interesting book.

Me too. If I find a really good book that I can get into, I absolutely adore reading and I will gladly ignore the rest of the world for a day or so to finish the book. I will read when I wake up, when I have down time at work, and when I get home, if I am really into the book. Ha ha. I read mostly memoirs and a bunch of crime/mystery novels. My favorite authors... In the crime/mystery genre would have to be Lisa Gardner, Tami Hoag, James Patterson. I also like Augusten Burroughs, Chuck Palahniuk, Brett Easton Ellis, and a few more I can't think of off the top of my head. Although right now I'm almost done reading a book by Iris Johansen, a so-so crime/mystery writer, and it's called 'Pandora's Daughter'. It's a little bit sci-fi-y and that's why i don't think I'm getting into it that much. Not really my piece of cake, but I'm over halfway done so I'm obliged to finish! I love reading!! Happy MyLotting, and more importantly - happy reading!

I have only encountered a few occasions that a book is too boring to finish. I usually find that just like a movie, sometimes a book starts off slow and gets better. I am in my own little world when I read. I tune out everything else!

I love to read, too. No matter how bad of a day I'm having or how sick I am I can always manage to read a book. It's my goal to read and review on my blog 150 books. I have a mini-library, too. A couple of years ago, I sold half my collection to buy a bus ticket to Washington, DC to go an advocacy event. It seemed like a good use for books I never read and they got new homes with readers who would enjoy them.

That was a creative way to come up with bus fare! You got where you needed to go and others got the joy of reading these books. Win- win situation for both. No point of letting books collect dust!!

I am also a speed reader. I gobble books up especially if I am enjoying it! Sometimes it frustrates me though. Before I know it I am done with the book. On to the next!

I absolutely love reading. I've always enjoyed reading, ever since I was a kid. I enjoy reading various types of books, and such. It's something fun and relaxing to do. It certainly is for me.

Reading is one of the greatest joys that a person can have in life. It is really just a shame that a lot of people do not share that joy for reading that some do. Of course, there are many people out there who sadly have had their experiences with literature get off on the absolutely wrong foot. There are just a lot of people out there who really do get their sour tastes. I think that I've read all sorts. 2011 I think was a very lean year. Then again, I might have read more than many. But then again, since many don't read, that is saddening to say the very least. Its best to start young, and before formal schooling, as nothing will kill a person's potential to love reading faster than the "literature" that the school system shows do their throats. Still reading is great, from many authors, genres. Even if you read comic books(and I do), at least you're reading something.

I agree! It saddens me to hear someone say they haven't read a book in years! They don't know what they are missing. But it is so true that sometimes we are forced to read and when we don't enjoy it then we are turned off by the whole idea of concept. My daughter's class has something called D.E.A.R. It stands for drop everything and read. They get 40 minutes per day to read anything they would enjoy reading. Whoever came up with this concept is a genius! Now she likes to read!!

Hi Zuki! I am like you and I love to read anything on which I could lay my hands. If I have nothing much to do I love reading to enhance my knowledge and for keeping me update. If any day I am not in a mood to respond I simply read mylot discussions and dresses thereon and I enjoy doing it. :-) Happy New Year to you.

You sound like me. Everywhere I go I use it as an opportunity to read and learn. My girls always ask why I read billboards and signs. I tell them that is why they are there. Also because you always have to aware of your surroundings!

I do love to read and I probably own enough books to fill a small library, maybe not that small a one either... The one time I actually COUNTED them, I had over 3000, and that was well over 20 years ago! I'm not even sure I could FIND them all right now! I don't have a single favorite writer or book, but my favorite subject is science fiction/fantasy with mysteries behind it - tho I personally count Sherlock Holmes more into SF than mystery... maybe because I love it so much!

Holy moley you do have a lot of books! Where do you live? I would love to come buy for tea and book exchange! I don't have as many books as I used to. I gave most away to family and friends. Now I have a kindle so no need for books all over my small apartment!

Hi, zukichucha. It is really great that you have passed your love of reading on to your children. In my opinion, it is among the best gifts you can give a child. I too love to read. It is my favorite hobby by far! But choosing favorites is difficult for me. Favorite author, favorite book even favorite genre is a hard choice for me, I guess because so much depends on how I'm feeling at the time in my life. Steinbeck is a stand out for me, but it's hard to say he's a favorite because I haven't liked every single thing I've read by him. A top choice by him would be East of Eden. What about you? Do you have favorites?

I am the same. I have so many favorites it would be hard to narrow it down. Sometimes I get into a mood where I will only read romance or thrillers or classics etc. for a while. I just love to read. It doesn't matter what it is as long as it interests me!

hi zukichucha, We are the same. I love reading too as it expand my vocabulary. By the way, I am fond of reading English novels. I have been in love with books since I was a kid. There are no boring moments for me once I am surrounded with reading materials. I am like you that I read anything however, since I have a busy schedule, I will admit that I rarely finds time to read. But then I realize that if I can have time to eat, brush my teeth and sleep, for sure I can find time too to read. As of now, I am trying to finish one English novel for one month.

I have loved to read since I learned how. I always say it is like a movie in your head. Sometimes I will even re-read a book if I really enjoyed it. Next time around I always pick up on things I didn't the first time around!

I love to read and I have been reading all my life. My two daughters like to read too and most of my grandchildren. I couldn´´t say which is my favorite author or book because it depends on my moods or on the time in my life. I could say what was my favorite book 50 years ago, but not what is my favorite book now.

I also like to read, but lately I lack of patience as my characteristics. I lately purchased an Ipad 2, which I can download some free piece of ebook from iTune stores. Or I can upload some Ebook in PDF formats. Also, lately, because I am focus on making extra money, I just don't have time to read more books.

I have a kindle. I have about 200 books on it. I only paid for about 10 of them! There are so many good free ones! I also have not been reading as much as I used to. But think of it like this... we have to read to respond to discussions so in a way we are still reading!

i love to read too. I'm a bookworm, i just read anything that interest me. I read when i have nothing to do, or just waiting for someone. Or maybe while on a bus or just somewhere. I'm interested in reading some philosophical books, funny story books, some fiction too.. reading tattoo magazines, i even read the newspaper for current events. I remember when i was in elementary, my favorite place in the school is the library. It's not that i'm a loner or something, i just want to read. Reading helps me to understand more things and more about life. But one thing i noticed is that i don't like to read my subject books, especially the math book. My favorite book would be, "On being human". I've read that 3 times.

My favorite place to be at was the library too! In elementary school we could go twice a week as a class. Each visit we could take out 2 new books. The librarian always made an exception for me because 2 books at a time was never enough for me!

Hi I also love to read very much. I'm a bookworm. But what I usually read are magazines like Readers Digest and National Geographic. I am not active into reading novels or pocketbooks. What are the best novels to read?

I love reading novels, when I don't do anything I usually read. To name some of the authors: Nicholas Sparks, Danielle Steel and John Grisham. When travelling or just going some places that I know I have to kill time, I always bring a book with me.

Yeah love to read, but I'm not that fast, and my computer takes a lot of my time off. But would love to be a faster reader, do you know any tips and tricks? My favorite genre is literature, faction, biography.

I will admit I have not been reading as much as I usually do for the past few weeks for the same reason. But I try to read when I am on the train or waiting on line or anywhere else I have a few minutes to spare. Time seems to go faster that way. I do not have a trick for speed reading. I have been a fast reader since I learned how. I also enjoy fiction and literature. I love Shakespeare and poetry!
