As we know, Amazon has launched Kindlefire couple months back. It's a 7 inch tablet with Android OS but has cloud technology and amazing amazon browser, which able to smoothly access internet via Wifi connectivity. I know that their technology and feature maybe still far from Ipad and even other Android tablet like samsung Galaxy series but the biggest advantage is the low price compare than others. It's around Usd 199 only which about half price of others. People who only need basic function of tablet for read ebook, magazine and check website online without camera or other function maybe will choose to buy this tablet. However, it supposed have 3G connection to be more attractive for me. How about you? Have you tried to use this Kindlefire? What do you think about it?

Hi omchesunche, I do not own a Kindle but looking at the specs I think the Kindle fire is a wonderful device to have if you love to read. Although it's quite light (15oz or 900gm), it would have been better if it were lighter as holding it in your palm for a prolonged period can be tiring. But with rapid technological advancement these days I'm sure it will get lighter. By the way do you know approximately how long the battery will last before it needs to be recharged? And can the battery pack be replaced easily? It's good to have 3G connection but then that'll mean higher cost in terms of having to pay for data charges subscription. The idea is to have an inexpensive device solely meant for reading. That's just my opinion. Have a nice day.

If You just want an ebook reading device, you're probably best off staying with the "Traditional" E-Ink screen kindles, either the keyboard or non keyboard versions out now...I have both an android tablet and a keyboard kindle, and while the kindle will knock the tablet's socks off for battery life, having easy access to internet functions and android apps is a big plus for the android device..also,the kindle software is available as an app for android,so to save carrying 2 gadgets around, for overall convenience the android wins..the Kindle Fire sounds to be a winner if you are starting out without either device this new Year! It remains to be seen what the battery life would be like...

Well, you have good points.. Kindle Fire was amazing and popular due to its cheap price and functionality..I think the battery last longer depends on application installed and how frequent we using it..You are right, if we manage to have 3G connection than we must spare our budget for additional cost for the monthly payment for the connection …If only for reading that would be great ,maybe we just need to download any reading material or saving it when we have free wifi connection and read everything at home.. .appreciate your response

Thanks for the good discussion on Kindle Fire. I am currently considering it for the first time and am sifting through the things people say about it. The price really catches my eye!

I have had my Kindle Fire for a little over a month. The price was right as I needed to replace my laptop but it just wasn't in my budget to do so. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I can access most of the websites I go to without any problems. So far the only site that videos will work on is youtube. Netflix will also work if you have a netflix streaming account, you just have to download the app which is free. You can also watch Amazon instant videos(paid, or some are free if you have an Amazon Prime membership.) I do have to say that many of the mobile versions of some of the websites I visit aren't to my liking, so I just switch them to the desktop version when I can find the link for it. I think that probably has more to do with the whole mobile web "thing" than a problem with the Kindle specifically, it's just my preference for the whole website.

Well, appreciate your response and also your sharing of experience..I think from what you telling me, this kindle has really worth to buy especially if we are member of amazon..If we are book lovers and really love to read e-book this should be number one choice since we do not need another application other than using it to read e-book…well, maybe someday there will be cheaper kind of tablet like from Ipad..but this kindle fire really becomes nice stuffs to buy for tablet beginners.

One of the big reason of the price drop is the smaller screen. I am not in the market for a touch pad, sure it would be nice to have, but I am not needing one and iwth so many other things to spend my money on it will have to wait. But I do know that people are looking for cheaper, and the Amazon Fire is a more palatable price than the iPad. One can only hope with more tablet computers that Apple will be forced to drop its price. But on that note, I'm not holding my breath.

Well, maybe you are right.. However the samsung has popular galaxy tab with 7 inch similar with this kindle but the price really high and more expensive than kindle.. I think the price will be first reason people loved to buy it and followed by the functionality..I agree with you, I actually still wait when Apple able to produce cheaper tablet with still maintain their great sensitive screen ability..maybe it will become more popular than any of table in our planet...appreciate your response..

I want one real bad! The Kindle Fire would be great to play games on,read and do other stuff on! I am sick of playing or trying to play games on my PC and the computers at work! They are extremely slow some days and I waste so much time on them waiting for uploads, especially now that I am playing "words with Friend"!! Right now I can't afford one! Maybe by the time I can buy one the price will go down! It is cheaper then a tablet, like the Ipad!
