Recently I went to my start menu to look for Microsoft office Word and to my surprise it was no longer there, but all the other programs are still there. I still have the Word shortcut on my desktop so I can still open Word. I would like to know what happen to Word and how it could be deleted from the start menu? Last year this happen to wordpad on the same computer I found it on my hard drive using Windows search, but now I can't find wordpad no longer. I did have viruses on my laptop, but I removed them. Recently, I updated my Microsoft Office. Can any computer wiz tell me what gives? ...

First of all you tell which version of word you uses. WHich version which you installed in your computer since from 2007 onward all the version have the word, powerpoint, excel, and other like info ect in them. If you have installed older version then all the short in star menu will have standlone version shortcut. SInce earlier the word came as standalone prodcut so the shortcut are not organised into one. Now we have cobined prodcuct with all word, powepoint, excel ect are in in package called ms offcie. The short is found under it only. If you didn't have ms offcice than i think your older word would have been uninstalled or got removed bu viruses ect. You told that you updates ms offcie then dpoes it still don't word? If it doesn't then ithink you should unsinstall once and the reinstall them. If still it do not work then it is big problem of virsuse. You said that the all viruses get removed by you can't guarranty that they all have been removed. Try to get a good antivirus and clean you ciomputer throughly. I suggest for Norton or Kaspersky. If still doesn't work then format you computer by saving all you data. Mean make a backup before format. Well if you got the things right told or else make up what say or go to an expert to repair the computer.
