Do your kids love Dora? Mine does. Is it the colors? Is it the Spanish? What is it?

Ha ha...that's funny. Is Barney still big with the baby crowd, or have we successfully avoided that torture? :)

Do you have any theories about why it's so wonderful to her? I mean, it's ok, but my kid gets really excited.

My kids love dora too. Mine really like the adventures they go on and they like the spanish. They love to try and say words in spanish. They also like it when they try to catch the stars.

That's cool. My kid is just learning English. Not sure if he gets the Spanish, at least not yet!

Oh yes. I think they love the fact that they can sing along and they love all the characters.

That makes a lot of sense. I think my toddler loved the movie musical Rent for the same reason. LOL.

I had never heard of Dora the Eplorer before I joined myLot but have seen a lot of discussions about it here. I heard of one young Dora fan in a discussion on here and after reading about it I did some browsing to find out what it was all about. I haven't seen the tv shows but I think I would have wanted all the toys and furniture when I was a little girl :). I knew this little Dora fan needed a new bed and that her mother was trying to save up for it and I gave a hint to one of the 13 Santa Claus's in Iceland and in a few days this little girl will be sleeping in her own Dora bed :). We don't have Dora in Iceland (not that I know of at least) but another show has the attention of youngsters here and that is Lazytown. It is an Icelandic made tv show that started quite a long time ago in Iceland but started on Nickleodeon a year or two ago. It is now aired in over 100 countries and is becoming more popular every day. In Iceland Lazytown even has it's own currency, kids can get lazytown money when they put money into their bank accounts and use it to buy fruit, vegetables, bread, water and other healthy food and snacks at some grocery stores. Do your kids watch that show also? You can see info on it on wwww.lazytown.com. They promote healthy dieting, excercise, anti-bullying and much more.

Hmmm...very interesting. We don't have that that I know of, but I could just not know about it. It sounds like a positive force.

Lazytown is on Nickleodeon in the US. I can't remember if Nickleodeon is free or if you have to subscribe to it (it's been almost 20 years since I was in the US).

hmmm...thanks. Isn't it funny when something just REALLY appeals to kids. The other things I can think of are Barney and Elmo. Kids just love that stuff.

I also agree, the interaction within the show. Blues clues is also similar, but the songs aren't as catchy.

my daughter loves dora and she's not even two yet, i think it's the color, the easy way to say her name, and the singing and dancing, she doesn't understand the language thing so i know it's not the spanish!

I don't know, but I, personally, can't stand Dora. All she does is yell the whole freakin' time.

Ha! That's funny. I think it might just be the pitch of her voice. Doesn't it seem that kids just love things that adults can't STAND? What's with that?

My son loves that also. Its maybe the concept of the show, the characters and the background. Children love animals and colorful pictures and dora has it. Most of all children the talking animal and plants around dora and boots.

My kids also love Dora, that is, when my eldest kid can lure away her brother from the Power Rangers. I think it is the feeling that when you watch Dora you are also a participant in their adventures. it is because when you watch Dora, you are given the illusion that you are helping them in their quest like when they ask you to say "Map" when they want to ask for directions, or to repeat the places they have to go to reach their destination.
