My eyes hurt, i feel dizzy and my head aches. Probably, this is because of spending the whole day looking at the screen of my laptop. I do not have a choice, this is part of my job, doing my tasks using my laptop. I also surf the net and do mylotting on the side. I am afraid my eyes might get damaged eventually. Last time I checked, I still got 20/20 vision. I don't want to wear glasses!!!

It would be wise to have regular eye checks and make sure you wear the right glasses if you need them, sometimes we are aware how much we strain our eyes.

Hello bhonti, the most common reason for such unpleasant sensation in our eyes is because, believe it or not, we forget to blink for a long time when looking at the computer screen! This causes dryness and our eyes hurt. So try consciously to take a break from looking at your screen, look away from it every 10 minutes and blink for a few seconds. Also, every hour or every two hours, stop what you are doing, lean back in your chair, close your eyes and cover them with your palms. This is called 'palming' and it relaxes your eyes a lot. DO it for a few minutes. Repeat these two things a few times for a day or two and you will notice the difference.

I have been worrying about that lately myself. I've been working on the internet much more as a side so that I can have more money saved up for myself for the things I will be needing shortly. My expenses will be increasing but my pay will not so I have to result to here. I have tried and will be trying to do this more, but to walk away from the computer every five or ten minutes, even if just for a minute. It gives me a moment to think of the next thing I want to respond to or do, and it rests my eyes. I also, when I buy it, drink DHA & Omega 3 milk which is good for eyesight. Eating healthier, drinking healthier and remembering to atleast take a glance away from the computer every twenty minutes helps.

Just think of it this way, you are woking and working on the internet to earn to pay for your bills when you eventually get some treatment for your eyes. I think your eyes are more important. So no matter how tempting it is to go back to the computer, I think resting your eyes must be your priority. A few minutes will not hurt I think, and the "commenters" and "repondents" can wait.

Take a transparent white cloth, its okay if it has a little light colours added on it,mainly the veils are good, take and place it on the computer screen, the light that flows to your eyes will decrease and you will not feel that hurt with the computer light.Try this out ,as its a transparent cloth you will be able to see the screen as before and do all your works, and your eyes will also not hurt.

Wow, thanks for the advice. Im definitely going to try this. Though it seems to be needing a little use to. I am sure I will find it uncomfortable looking at the screen with cloth on it. Thanks anyway!

Its a transparent cloth so that you can do your work as u were doing previously with out the cloth on the monitor screen. Why not try the menu options given on the monitor so that to change the settings of the screen resolution ,it might low down the light coming or flashing from the monitor.

You have to give your eyes a break if you don't wanna wear eye glasses. I've got a poor vision that started before I graduated college but those times and even after I was working in companies, I never thought that my vision is slowly getting blurry. I just thought it's normal. Until one day I decided to have it checked and learned I need to wear glasses. I am also wearing contact lenses so that I will feel comfortable whenever I am outside. Too much computer can really lead to losing your 20/20 vision.

Is that what really happened to you? If you felt normal but its really not the thing, then I should really go to the doctor. Because I can feel some changes in my vision right now, then this must be worse than your case. I am getting anxious.

I think I really need to go to the optometrist in our company clinic. I hope here doesn't find something wrong and make me wear eyeglasses.

Yup you need to go at least to an optometrist or ophthalmologist so it can be checked and corrected. I am actually regretting that after months of wearing glasses and contact lenses I stopped using them because I feel lazy putting on lenses, and uncomfortable wearing glasses. But late I had to go back to wearing them again coz the lens power had increased.

I would suggest having some form of relaxation in between the time you are using computer. A simple relaxation technique that I do is after every 20 minutes, I usually look up and focus on something like 10 feet away preferably a green plant or anything else with a soothing or calming color for 10 seconds. It usually help in relieving my eye strains.

I'll try to do that too. Someone has commented here and taught me the cup my eyes with my eyes and blink many times. According to her, this will moisturize our eyes. We tend to forget to blink when we look at the monitor and this makes our eyes dry.

You are lucky because you still have 20/20 vision. I have a poor eyesight and it becomes poorer when I started to take up Computer Programming course which requires me to be in front of computer for long hours. My glasses now has uv coat. According to the eye doctor, it will protect me against direct radiation from the computer. I think, you can also ask an eye doctor for some prevention so you won't have poor eyesight.

I hope I still got the 20/20 vision. I hope I do not lose it because like you, my work also forces me to look at the computer screen for many hours. It's nice to know that you are wearing protective glasses to prevent further damage on your eyes.

yeah, this is very common now. I also have spent more than 8 hours for facing the screen of computers.somethime,i feel very tired and i will try to look forward and some far place to let my eyss have a rest. It is really not good for facing computer for a so long time, but nowadays, without computer or laptop, it is hard to do my work. so i can not give up using laptop, the only way i can do is to adjust myself and try to find more time let our eye have a good rest. so do not fix the screen continuously for a long time, maybe you have have a rest for a while and this can help you and me a lot.

Hello, I dont like wearing glasses either becAuse it is kinda awkward for me.. Yeah, but if you dont really like to damage your eyes you should consult your doctor to give you a glass that have a protection to the screen of the computer. I am planning to have that soon because i am really concern to my eyes.. So, if i were you? You should also do that because you are experiencing pAin in the eyes and headache at the same time.

It happens to me everyday! It's my school break now and I've been just Mylotting and trying to earn heaps while I'm just sitting at home. I have spent too much time staring at the computer screen, I my eyes tend to get red and sore. I've been getting annoying headaches too but I just can't help it. I have assignments for school too and I need the computer. But every time I look at the computer, my temples just start hurting after an hour or 2 and I just need to stop and take a break. I actually do wear glasses and I need to wear them when I'm on the computer or else I will see a very blurry screen! But that still gives me headaches because my eyes are way too tired. Even though it is your job and that's important but take a break. maybe just sit back and close your eyes for at least 5 to 10 minutes, it might help and drink water. Always take breaks after 1 to 2 hours or else you'll overwork your eyes. I guess don't add more pressure on your eyes by watching TV too.

You are young than me I think, because you said that you are still a student right. I am already working but I don't have to wear glasses. I don't want to wear one soon. I am trying my best to take care of my eyes so that I wouldn't need to wear a pair of glasses.

I am afraid to go to the eye doctor. They might run tests on me, and then they might find out that my vision is not clear than before. Then they will advice me to wear glasses. That I do not want to happen.

Hi!Bhonti You should try to blink consciously sometimes.Try to do some Pranayama(breathing exercises). It helps in improving eyesight.Eat carrots, milk and a lot of veggies.Try watching green plants and green vegetation. It helps eyes to relax.Walk on green grass with naked feet.It acts as giving accupressure to your feet and helps improving eyesight.Try taking small 1-2 minutes breaks.Close your eyes with force and then open.Repeat it 10 times. It will help.
