My nephew just graduated from university and looking for a job. He is still confident to look job which suitable with his educational background in chemical engineering. I have suggested him to also diverse to various available jobs but he insisted to stick with his discipline. Now he has been looking for almost 7 months, even the progress still looks good since he has called for interview many times but still no company accept him. Most of the time he failed to compete with someone who has experiences, since people who has one or two years experiences tend to move from their current job looking for better job in the market. Finally,he started to look for other available job in market but still relate with engineering. How about you? Do you also stick to your background when looking for job at first time?

hi omchesunche, I learned how difficult it is to find a job and sticking to your educational bakground is very challenging especially if you are surround with more skilled applicants. I think it depends on the people whether they will stick to their educational background or not during job hunting. If a person is the bread winner in the family or is under poverty, he might go to the job even it is outside of what he studied. However, if some people don't have much problem with money, there is a possibility that they will really go for a job that is related to what they studied in the university.
