Ok , for example , take the salsa L.A style dance : you can dance with a partner most of the time but you can also dance solo using the "shines" combinations : it can involve special steps like crosses , spins , waves and many more combining Men style or lady style , depends on your gender. Some times , one can have fun dancing solo at a party and everyone can see him and he doesn't need an available partner for the dance. Sometimes , the music is good , the club is great but only few people come to dance there so , most of the people will say "there is no one to dance here with , i'm going to somewhere else , so I will have more fun"... It makes even less people come to the club. The solo dance can make a good solution in my opinion so people can enjoy themselves and the club. Not depending on how many partners are available to dance with. Do you think you would dance solo in a party for some songs with no partner ? What do you think about solo dancing instead of dancing with a partner ?

I was never taught how to dance with a partner, but I do dance either by myself or in a group and I love it..:)

Well, I do freestyle, hip hop, ballet, interpretive, but for one where I need others, is similar to the line dancing, yet I still practice that here at home since there is no place to dance around here anymore..:(

What kind of dance do you dance ? Is it just a free dance at the dance club ? Some dances like hip hop , free style , line dances ... like at the dance club ...those styles doesn't require a partner. I'm talking about the styles that require partner and solo is just optional...

Ow...isn't there any studio or gym near your house where you can take dance lessons like zumba , line dances , salsa or ballroom dance ? I mean , doing it alone can be boring if you want people to watch you. Dancing is a lot more fun in a social place where you can see other people dance and they can see you dance.

Thanks for your respond. You don't need to just dance solo , only if you don't find who to dance with. You can also try to improve your solo dance so you can have more fun learning new moves. I sometimes watch youtube videos involving salsa L.A shines to learn som elements and learn them well.

Well , it will give you some satisfaction when you learn a new trick and dance it at the club. I always have fun dancing new moves that I just learned. I also forget them very fast if I don't practice them later. So , most of the time I dance my regular moves , those are in my head.

I'm Strictly Ballroom! I was only taught to dance with a partner, so that's what I'll do. I took out the Bronze FATD (national titles) some years ago & have been a student of Ballroom dance before & since. I disagree with your reasoning. It is difficult to find someone to dance with if you're single & everyone else is already dancing solo. I like to promote unity as well & a balanced male-female partnership, to me, always looks much better & more comfortable than a couple of singles dancing seperately. A couple don't even need to be very good or advanced in their dancing to look good on the floor, whereas if you're out there doing it solo, there's a lot of pressure on you to look good or do it right, or it just looks terrible.

Thank you for responding. I agree with you. Balroom dances requires partners most of the time like salsa L.A style. If one is not good enaugh to dance solo , it can look terrible. I just think that too many people at the salsa club dance only with partners and their satisfaction depends on it. So , I think it can be better if everyone will dance solo once in a while and consider it as an option to dance. I also think the default should be to dance with a partner , no doubt.
