I love to cook and I'm very good at it, lately I've been wanting to learn how to bake because I'm not as good. Yes I can make simple things out the box but I would like to learn more on how to make things from scratch...any advice or recommendations to get this process going??

Baking is a totally different world from cooking, baking is a branch of cooking but it needs a different way of approaching it... and it is some what a science so it needs knowledge of the ingredients how they react and what is there function.Baking relies on proportion, preciseness, temperature, techniques, and mixing methods of ingredients to get a predictable result.
A good way of learning and studying(as what I said its science and all science need to be studied) baking is to learn few basic skills, and technique like how to; cream butter and sugar, how to foam eggwhites, how to measure dry ingredients, Folding, shifting, whipping, kneading, bain Marie etc.You also need some few equipments like mixing ball(large, medium, small), measuring cups(dry and liquid), measuring spoons, sifter, whisk, spatulas, baking pans(round pan, muffin pan, jelly roll pan, etc.), hand mixer or stand mixer.
You can also read books or eBooks about baking this would greatly help you and try to watch videos or demos about baking so that you can easily learn the techniques.
have a great day

Did not know that baking has so much of process and so much is to be learned to bake food.I never done baking ,however interested with it.
Yes it is complete different way of cooking i agree with your opinion .It should be carefully done, and needs a lot of patience also.
Everything lies how much effort we did in the process of making the dough or the ingredients before baking.
Some experts only can give good guidance regarding this.I know not much about this process so i would be waiting for others to have a talk on this.
And more tips and experiences shared over here would help the new ones to do the baking in a proper way.

hmmm firstly I don't think its an opinion because its a fact that cooking is really different from baking, though it is a branch of cooking.
Secondly We cant say "I cooked a cake" or "Is the cake cooked?" that sound odd, people will always say "I baked a cake" or "Is the cake thoroughly baked?".
have a great day

Hello pepai123456 I must say first off thank you for such an informative comment! I had no clue baking was so detailed and so many different techniques.
Seems like you have everything down pack when it comes to baking and keeping in touch with you looks like something I should do because I really really want to better my skills in the kitchen. How long have you been baking?
Now as far as science goes....I knew there was some science involved but my goodness I haven't had experience testing out any of those techniques you mentioned (cream butter and sugar, folding, shifting, kneading, etc.) but I am always up for a challenge!!!!
Youtube will be my new best friend for some hands on demonstration...thanks again for giving me some tips to get started.
