Dassodils: Principles of accountancy -- debit the receiver and credit the giver 2) debit what comes in and credit what goes out 3) Debit all expenses and losses and credit all incomes and gains. these are the rules of double entry book keeping. Keeping this in mind you should making double entries. For example the company bought a car for Rs. 5.24 lakhs. The entry will be Safes, Furniture & Vehicle ( Car) Ac Dr. Rs. 5,24,000 To Bank Rs.524,000 (Being the cost of car purchased and for which cheque is issued) Like wise first learn to make double entries, then learn to make trial balance, then balance sheet . Thereafter other areas like ratio analysis, Funds flow , cash flow etc. It is not difficult. it is an easy subject provided you learn properly. Be attentive in the class. Remove the fear that accountancy is tough and you cannot understand it. Try to do problems with friends who are strong in it. best wishes

yes. To an extent possible I will clarify doubts. In accountancy -- concentration, understanding of the concept and classifying figures properly as assets or liabilities and making proper adjustments is very important. best wishes

Hi dassodils, I am a certified public accountant and I find it amusing for someone good in mathematics having a hard time with accountancy. Compared to mathematics, accountancy basically involves the four fundamental operations-- addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; unlike in mathematics which may reach up to geometry, trigonometry, algebra, calculus and similar stuff. The only difference I see between the two is that in accountancy, it is not a matter of how well and fast are you able to compute, but rather, how thorough are you able to analyze a transaction. In mathematics, there is limited analysis as most problems have generally the same variables to work on. In accountancy, you have to consider relationships and effects of variables for a given transaction. You may request me as a friend for us to communicate privately for your specific problems.

Maths is different from accounting. I think being an accountant can be a nice job. At least you shall earn more when you grow old. Since people want to hire experienced accountant. I studied accounting before and I also found it difficult. I think being careful is so important. Otherwise it is hard to make the both sides balanced. I haven't found a shortcut to learn it. But doing more accounting exercises is helpful. I love China

I wish that I could help you with this, but that is an area that I have never studied in my life. With that said, I did have many friends that were accounting majors in college and one of the things that I remember the most from them is that there were a lot of formulas that they had to learn. Thus, my advice to you would be to study those formulas forward and backward until they are so clear to you that you can quote them verbatim.

Hi! Well, I took Accountancy in my first year in college, mainly because I loved my Accounting subject back in high school. Then I found both the course and the subject pretty difficult (pressure on the required grades needed to stay in the course). From my experience, all I could say is that you need to analyze things correctly before doing the whole computation part. You should also not forget the basic principles of accounting. If ever you get confused over a topic, do not hesitate to ask your professor about it, or even a friend who is doing well with the subject. Be attentive and try to enjoy the subject.

Well just study more and harder.. Nobody can help you but yourself. There really are subjects that are hard especially those that deal with numbers. I myself struggled a lot with subjects that deal with numbers when I was studying. Nevertheless, I did not surrender. I studied hard so I could overcome those hard subject. So just study harder, that is the only key.
