We are really in trouble..In my college, there are a lot of rules like mobile phones are not allowed, can't to cut classes etc...I think that rules and regulations are good in a college..But that's only good up to a limit...But they are trying to make a bad concept in our mind...I like to get some freedom. But they are not allowing us to enjoy our campus life... What you think?? Is it good or bad???

Regulations, that´s a tough one, because, we all want to do things our own way, and, we are convinced that our way to do things, is the best way ever, but, it does not work well if we all do things our way, discipline, althought we don´t like it, is a need. There are rules, we can´t understand, in a given time, but, later, seeing in retrospective, we realize they were good, in forming our character and values. If there is something though that you feel is not the way it should, there are ways, like forming a student board, in your school or class.

I think there is nothing wrong with te rules should be up to the teacher of each class. At the college I went to they could force a student to go to class a lot of colleges can't in the us at all. The us of cell phone in class for the most part is not allowed but if left on silent and in a bad or pocket the teachers where okay if you had your cell phone with you.

Hi Dassodils: In general I agree with rules when they have a common sense and when they really help people work together and every place we go, rules are necessary. However, college must be a place of freedom. I mean, if you are in college, that means that you have the right age to be mature and take your own responsibilities from your actions so too much rules are also bad. ALVARO

See if you see the things from their point of view you may get a broader idea. Your management is imposing such harsh rules upon you people , because in their opinion if you attend classes, or if you dont carry you phone in class then you are most likely to concentrate in class and their you will probably score good marks and in the end the over all performance of your college will be better than the previous years or than the other colleges which will draw attention of the new intakes. But i strongly support for some freedom of the students.

If there are too many restrictions , naturally as a college going youngster you are likely to get frustrated. But, when there are friends around, you can have all the fun within campus itself. Restrictions in college are not bad becasuse we essentially go to college to study. We used to have all the fun in our classroom itslef and also during intervals.

dassodils just because you cannot be on mobile phones all day and night is not a bad rule and cannot skip classes. my G if you kids fo not want to go to classes why let your parents put out huge amounts of money so you can play all day and skip classes. you think those rules are hard my G wait til you graduate and go to work someplace. every place has some rules or nothing would be accomplished. and if you go to college solely to socialize why not work and stay home and go out all you want. your objection to the rules you stated make no real sense at all.It is good not to skip classes after all you are there primarily to learn not to play. you can enjoy college life after classes as there are alway many social events on most campuses.

I guess those rules are in place to prepare us for the world outside of our classrooms. I mean, we have to admit that we all our bounded by rules even after we graduate from college. But I don't think it would really bar us from enjoying college life. It's really up to us how we could find enjoyment at school even with strict rules being enforced.

If these rules prevent the learning process, then I think I would agree with them. If the mobile phones interrupt other people during classes, then they should be banned. I think it's good as there are plenty of other times for personal things such as phones. Not during school time.

Yes I can understand......but remember, our goals to college is to learn, then I think reasonable, such regulation should be applicable. You can free outside.....in college, what you need is focus....

Well Dassodils, I think school is for studying and where you learn to have character. If there is class got to your class, do your HW's and pay attention to the teachers but when it's break-time or your already out of class that is when you party harder than you study, so study hard and party hard. And try to not skip class, alright. Take care...

Hi Dassodils, In college side its good but as a student it will resist their freedom. Almost all college have their own rules and regulations and keep watching students. As a student, there is a saying "Break the rules", breaking the rules is thrill and adventures in college life. But we as a student also respect these rules for some extend. Keep enjoying your college days ! Have fun

Well rules are rules, you can make it or break it.. but I think those rules are the things that are best for you.. The only thing is about mobile phone maybe you just have to put it in silent mode if ever you're in your class just not to disturbed other.. trust me, at first its kinda annoying but eventually you'll have all the fun that you want..:)

I've got a feeling it is time to revise the rules. Rules are always importatnt on a college campus. However, as society changes with time, we cannot try to see every rule as written in concrete.

I think its a good thing to have the rules and expectations. When you get out into the work world theres just as many rules if not more. Rules about when to be there...how often you can miss or be sick, some places have dress codes, internet and phone usage rules. Billing Rules, Some places even say how many hours you can be there. Enjoy campus life in your nonclass time. Attending class makes paying for it much more worthwhile than paying for it and skipping school all the time.

You'll spend the rest of your life following rules. You might as well learn how to follow rules from the start.

hi, the most rules and policy i had encounter in my college life was long hair for males not allowed regardless if you are transgender, another thing was the ID's should always wear everytime inside of the campus and security will catch you if they dont see your id wear.

Categorizing it as good or bad wont make any difference to the situation.Isn't it? I too am studying in a college and our college had similar kind of rules and regulations which involved all the things you stated above plus a few more draconian ones like No entry in the college after 9.30am No exit before 5.00pm(except lunch hours) No entry without proper uniform No entry in the examination hall and appear in any exam if percentage is less than 80% etc etc... You know what we did then so as to get rid of this? We wrote to the college management to induce some flexibility in these draconian rules but they refused to entertain our plea. What next ? We called a STRIKE which included 85% of the students studying in the college and within 2 days of strike ,management stepped backwards and accepted all our demands.:D We now enjoy our college life very much.:) I would suggest you to discuss the matter with your friends and ask the management/director/principal of your college to modify the rules and regulations.Good Luck:)
