When we had our granite countertop put in I heard the two guys talking about the quality of our cabinets. I asked for clarification and I was told they were well constructed out of Douglas Fir! I just about cried! Why? Because since 1946, when the house was built people painted and painted and painted that beautiful wood! Now all I can think is restoration! They must be beautiful under all those coats of paint! I wish there were some way to completely remove all traces of paint and stain the wood properly. Do you have a home where something drives you totally nuts and just think about how to fix it even though everyone says it can’t be done?

Yes....my whole house LOL.....I would like new windows....and siding. And right now I can't afford it! But seriously there are a few things I would love to do that I am restricted on.....like taking down a wall! I think it's what they call a support wall.

Do NOT touch that support wall! Even when professionally done it costs a mint to put the beam in to support whatever is above it! And if the house is old you could invite dissension from "other" worldly things!
