This a reason why I like XP more than win7 when I connect with the net. 
I didn't try it but my friend said we can use same method in XP to boost up net speed but I can't guarantee because I didn't test it myself (my laptop with win7 OS used by my niece for other reason)

I think you can't really speed up your internet. These tips mentioned above is going to help you only 10% increase. But if you really want to surf in high speed net then change your current net connection and get faster one. This is the only way to get fast net speed.

yes I agreed windows 7 is already having internet speed better than windows XP
but I not agreed you mean try to get more speed than your ISP provide? I don't think so
because it's possible I don't know how.

I also use windows 7. you can boost your speed by frequently updating it. Otherwise you can try AVG pc tune up. It will boost the speed to some extent.
