After 6

Have you heard of the after six pm diet? As far as I know, it claims that you can lose weight even if you eat anything you want as long as you don't eat anything after 6 p.m. (perhaps to allow time for thorough digestion) Do you think it's effective? Has anyone tried it?

It sounds sensible but I am not sure I could go to bed after that long without eating, I think my tummy would be rumbling all night then I wouldn't be able to get to sleep.

Yeah, I've heard about it. It's very popular among "healthy" people. I've tried that, too and it's really effective. I don't know how it works but I guess you're right. After six pm, there's a long time for the stomach to digest everything's that eaten during the whole day. I lost weight when I tried it for a week.

Good for you. Why did you stop then? For me, I tried it for a couple of months and I did lose weight but eventually old habits came back and I gain weight again. :)

I couldn't keep it up with my work. I mean, there are times that I go on field work and I cannot not eat after 6. And now, I'm actually too slim that I need to gain more weight than lose it.

This is strange. I've been only once on such "diet" - when I was in the maternity ward years ago with my newborn daughter. The diner was at 6 p.m. It was not possible to get visitors and additional food. So I was starving at a moment when I had to produce milk for my baby! Maybe it is good to try this diet if you go to bed no later than 7 p.m.

I am a bit worried about my weight so your topic attracted me! This is the first time I heard about this "after 6pm" meal. I am not sure about its effectiveness but the logic of getting all the food thoroughly digested seemed valid although I still have doubts. I usually go to bed at midnight, so it is 6 hours from my last meal. To think of it, it isn't impossible to do. I may just try it. Maybe with a bit of adjustment.

yes it is true. many stars follow the same after6 diet. Here you are supposed to eat before 6pm and after that you can have some light soup or juice. It works because our metabolism slows down as it has been working from the morning itself and it slows down while approaching night.our body organs also need rest as we do after long tiring day and are unable to work.

I don't know that it was actually called a diet. I do know it's better for digestion if you stop eating several hours before bed time. If you think about it your digestion works better vertically rather than horizontally and when we go to sleep we also burn less energy/calories than we do during waking hours. Typically 6pm is a good marker for most people when to stop eating. The problem with it is if you inhale everything in sight prior to 6pm your digestion may work a bit better but odds are you are still consuming too many calories because you want to get everything in before 6pm that you love weather you need to eat or not.

I'd never heard of it. That sounds ridiculous, but I'll have to look more into it to make and opinion. But regardless if it works or not, I could never do it: how could I not eat anything after six in the afternoon? I eat all the freaking time! Besides, for now I don't have a problem with my weight.
