A funny way to use a MAGNIFYING GLASS

Yesterday, when i woke up in the morning, i looked for some cigarettes. Luckily i found one, so i looked for something to lit it and found nothing. I can't find my lighter, or some matches. I didn't try the stove, because they'll see me. Out of desperation, I searched in the tool box, and saw a magnifying glass. Then, I got an idea!
As we all know, Magnifying glass isn't always used merely for magnification. the unique properties of the magnifying glass have long been known to have the ability to create a fire. In the absence of matches or a lighter, a magnifying glass is great tool for any wilderness survivalist.
So, i positioned the glass so that the sun's rays pass through the lens, forming a small point of light in my cigarette. And i can see smoke. The cigarette is lit on. haha. I can't stop smiling, because it was funny.
Have anyone tried doing that? or experimented on magnifying glass? maybe some of you do.

Thanks lilaclady..when you're really desperate, You brain cells really works hard to think of a clever idea? have you also tried doing something with a magnifying glass besides it's basic function to magnify things?

Oh, yes, in a reverse manner, out from my narcicism, i tried to put closer to my face and i was shocked that i was n't able to see my face but a plane nostrils! hahahaha

I have heard this many times, that a magnifying glass is good for things like this, and I am sure there are many here who have done this. Personally I have never tried it, and not sure I ever will, but this is a good thing to know if I ever find myself in a bind.

Whoah! You can definitely join Survivor!
I have never tried to do such thing. If I wanted to light up something I would use matches or lighter. Don't know what to use if I don't have this two. Probably will go to the nearest store to buy one.

Magnifying glass can be really so helpful. I think you should always have one your bag especially when you're out for camping. I didn't think of going to the store that time to buy one because i'm lazy. LOL.

Wow that sounds really great, I am glad that you got that right.
Once we were out for bbq, then we forgot to get matches to burn the wood..
Then my dad always had magnifying glass with him..
He positioned it right, took a small paper, the paper started to burn..
when we place the paper on the wood, the wood caught on fire..
so in the end, we had the perfect bbq without having to worry about anything!
:D..
At that time i was a little kid until way later I realized that what my father did was not a super power that he had, but the properties of magnifying glass.
I always thought he was a hero having special super powers!!
haha!

Yup your right..
hehe, even though he can not make fire with his super powers..
But he will always be my Super Hero!!
Its just amazing how Science is and how things work..
If we really go into detail we will go crazy because there are so many things that happen without us realizing their importance...
I wish to we could use magnifying glass in the night.
What if its an emergency?

Yup Science is definitely the key to everything. I surely believe that there is God who has created the world and universe, us and the other creatures.. but I also know that God has left us puzzles to solve and figure it out. Science is the answer to all the puzzles, we just have to look deep into it and figure out the answer..
When we do,there will be no disease or no problem on earth that could be left unsolved!!
My dad is just beyond amazing, I am the only little girl he has, and there wont be a day or night where my dad wont stand by my side. Its very difficult to express feelings to dad's as you can share your problems' with your mom more better..
As i always say to my dad, he is my Fairy God Father.. haha..!!
he is always there when I need him..

Science is really the key here. I love science. I love experimenting. I learned that magnifying glass can burn when i was in elementary. We had an experiment. We tried to burn a paper.
Well, maybe we should still bring matches or lighter besides magnifying glass. LOL.
I noticed that you seem to love your dad dearly. That's nice. Are you close to your dad?
