Dogs I think shows more excitement and always asks to be held hugged and played with they are also affectionate but in my observation they are more of the excited kind than Cat's that are more affectionate always wants to rub there bodies against you, and stay with you on bed or couch, they purr towards your ears and are just genuinely more close to us, well hope you guys don't get me wrong Im a dog person but this is just ow I see it. How about you guys what do you think???

You probably have an over excited dog that you came to this conclusion. From my experience, dogs can be also calm and very affectionate. Even more affectionate than cats! I also saw angry cats that can scratch you and spit on you. Not to mention that they can ruin your trousers with their claws. My friend used to have such a calm and affectionate dog! We used to laugh and say she will talk to us one day, this is how wonderful dog she was.

Well I have dogs now. But also had cats before. And I guess you are right. Not all dogs can be so affectionate like how a cat does. Cats looks very innocent and touchy. One of my cat before always wanna be by myside and on my lap. No matter how young or old they will be like that. While my dogs are also affectionate but normally when they're still puppies. They're playful and excited; but I love them more than cats I think

I love all animals but I really like cats more than dogs for myself, I like their independence, like myself, my cat is not really affectionate but I love her anyway, I know she loves me.

I find dogs more affectionate. cats are more aloof. what a lot of people interpret as affection, like rubbing on your legs, is scent marking, rather than affection. don't get me wrong, there are a lot of affectionate cats, but more so with dogs. they enjoy your company with no strings attached. they just want to be with you.

I've known cats that I have to get close to, and put my shoe close to them, so that they can get out all their hissing and scratching, before they go away to some secluded area of the house... even cats who get onto people's laps, or stay extra close to them, it seems like they're doing it more because they're cold, or itchy, more then they want affection from you... between the two, I'd easily say that dogs are more affectionate, and get more excited.

Hi i like this topic a lot. I agree with you, cats tend to be more attached to you that dogs. I love dogs, i use to have one and i always fed the starving ones at streets.I am a completely dog lover. Now i have a male cat. I think that he is in love with me or something like that.He is so attached to me, he does not want anyone else of the family and he follows me everywere!Even whem i am in the bathroom! He always siting besides me and starring me in the eyes. So i tried to believe that cats are really affectionate and tender animals and i am now a cat lover as well.
