That is a idolatry. This is a proof that the Philippines is populated by people who do not understand what true worship is. They should read the Bible and see how God hates idolatry. God is spirit and we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. No man-made image can equal the true God. That Black Nazarene is not actually a representation of Jesus. It is more of an instrument of the devil to deceive people.
God in Isaiah 42: 8 says : "I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise unto graven images."

The people were blind. They are fanatics and never do they really understand that they need not worship any idol to worship Jesus. Jesus is not pleased at all with what they did. Someday soon they will pay the highest price for this idolatry.

God in His Word (Exodus 20:3-5) said this:
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me, .
God has all the reasons to hate them who engaged in this kind of activity. Poor Philippines. People are claiming they are Christians but in reality they are not followers of Christ but followers of graven images. How stup!d they have become!

These idol fanatics should rather searched the Scripture. They obviously err because they know not the Word of God.
Psalm 115: 1-8
Not unto us, O Jehovah, not unto us, But unto thy name give glory, For thy lovingkindness, and for thy truth's sake.
Wherefore should the nations say, Where is now their God?
But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever he pleased.
Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men's hands.
They have mouths, but they speak not; Eyes have they, but they see not;
They have ears, but they hear not; Noses have they, but they smell not;
They have hands, but they handle not; Feet have they, but they walk not; Neither speak they through their throat.
8 They that make them shall be like unto them; Yea, every one that trusteth in them.

The Feast of the Black Nazarene is a very big risk to life and limb. With that vast number of people in the area, the likelihood of accidents is never far unless you make all precautions to save yourself from harm. I am not a Catholic either but I respect the Catholic church, however, there are other ways of showing the devotion to the Lord without this fanatical risking of life. Some consider this a form of sacrifice for the Lord to grant their wishes. I would rather communicate with the Lord inside a quiet room where I can talk to Him sincerely and with all my heart.

The Lord always listens to our prayers even without this kind of sacrifice. He just wants us to have faith and our devout prayers can certainly move mountains. I just wish that people would move closer to the Lord in prayers because this is the way He wants it to be.

I am saddened by this incident every year because of the following reasons:
1. These people are unaware that they are sinning and yet they seem so proud of what they are doing.
2. These people put their trust and hope on a wood painted with a face of what their priests made them to believe that of Christ.
3. They are hoping for miracles from a wood made of hands. Yet they defy the authority and authenticity of the Bible saying that it is made only of humans.
