The headteacher found a very clever way to get parents at an evening meeting for one and a half hours. The meeting is a talk about keeping children safe on the Internet. There will be a prize draw for a brand new laptop worth three hundred and fifty pounds. If he hadn't thought of such a clever way to get all the parents there. He says nobody will be allowed to leave until the end of the talk. He mentions that tickets can't be passed to another person.
What do you think of the prize?
Do you think any parents would go to a one and a half hours meeting without having a prize draw for a new laptop? Why or why not?

the teacher is so clever. But on the other hand i show sympathy for teachers nowadays. Although education for children is important, parents regard it as the things of children 's and teachers'.They often have an excuse that they are very busy.So if the teacher wants to talk something about their children, they show no concern. The parents' meeting is harder to hold for the teachers.

A responsible parent would even volunteer to head and/or assist such meeting without the need for an expensive raffle prize. I guess they cannot be blamed though, knowing how many parents now work on double or more shifts to make ends meet and have not much time even for themselves. I just hope this project becomes a success.

On the one hand, it's pretty cool. On the other hand pretty sad that he has to bribe people to attend something they should be concerned about anyway. Also makes you wonder who donated the lap top.
Quite a precident. What happens next time? Will he have to keep coming up with prizes?
Many ways of looking at this. Could make for an interesting discussion.

I would think that it is a shame that parents don´t care enough about what the sghool has to say about their children as to go to a meeting without having to be bribed. On the other hand, maybe it was not the parent´s fault and they could have been motivated in another way. If they had, that would have been clever of the headteacher.

I can only feel pity for the Headmaster. He must have realized from his previous experiences that parents have little or no interests in listening to whatever the school has to say about raising their child. They feel its not worth the time because they know much more about raising kids than what the school can tell them.
So, the Headmaster is forced lure parents in with the prospect of a lucky & expensive gift. Pathetic.
