I always end up paying bill on-time and because of which I always pay fine for that. Whenever I pay a fine , I decide not to repeat this next time . but till now I haven't learned a lesson. Most of the time I decide to pay it while I am at office but end up with my busy work and the last day to pay the bill also goes off . I dont know how to come out of this problem . i dont hate to pay my bill, but I think I am lazy . How many of you face this problem ? How many of you pay your bill on-time ? and save yourself from paying a fine ?

Hi Manjo, It is quite simple. The reason behind is our lack of interest or ignorance. As we consider it as a simple thing and not giving importance to pay the bill in time shows our lack of interest and simply ignorance. I have experienced the same for a long period and once I realised that it can be managed by our assertiveness, it is possible. In fact I learned it from a top person from my office. I am a support staff and I get bills too. I ignores it, but I found for months that the senior partner who have 1000s of loaded and pressurized works are much bothered of paying their bill in time even if it is just Rs 100/ or less. So, unless we are not taken interest, we cannot blame anybody. We cannot expect anyone who can do it. Even his secy. can remind him, but sometimes he come and reminds the secy to pay the bill in time. So, how we are organised with our life shows these kind of matters in tact. Even for eg, my internet bill used to come every 3rd week of the month and my due date is of 5th of every month. I can pay once I get the bill at any time. But I will keep waiting till 4th of the month and will pay or 5th. As it is a fund transfer activity, I will save the penalty. Even if I pay before date I will get a rebate of Rs 25/- also. Then also I may ignore for some time purposively. But if we are particular to do things IN TIME, there are a lot of advantages. We need not to bother of financial loss, save money by paying in time, even a credit card bill also not paid in time, some time unnecessarily we attract Rs 200-300 as simple due charges. But if we pay the same in time, we really save that much money. What we can do is: Keep a list of payable bills. Suppose we have 5 bills in a month - eg, electricity bill, mobile, credit card(s) and we know the exact due date also. List out all the names and mention the due date or payable dates. Make sure that each and every bill is getting paid atleast 3-4 days in advance. Fix a day in a month. Eg. 10th and 20th of every month. Most of the billing cycle comes under these days and if we spend an additional 1 hr. we can simply make arrangements to pay the bills. Also, many bills can be pay by on-line and if we take certain initiative to do it for once, next time we need to sit on the computer for 2 mts. and it will get automatically get deducted from the account. Also, we can make instructions to the bank by auto debit, which makes things easier. Only thin, we should make sure that there is sufficient fund in the bank. Even the LIC premiums and many other regular deductions can be kept in tack if we follow this method. So, your busy times can be always busy while thins will happen automatically if we take certain wise time periodically and things will improve and life will be more comfortable from such silly things. Best regards Thank-s

I finally determined that I can't rely on myself to pay my bills on time. While I hate using credit cards because of the risk of running up debt, I do have most of my monthly bills set up to bill automatically to my credit card. That's the only thing I put on that card. That way, even if I don't have the money in my bank account, my utility bills get paid on time. I only have one bill that I have to remember to pay manually, the credit card, instead of several.

Asking the billing company to take it directly from the bank is a good idea. But again we should make sure that Bank account is funded enough. Otherwise the fine will be hefty.

I do face the same problem as you. I think we really need to be more discipline. We alwasy think that we would remember to pay the bill or when we remember we would tell ourself later cause we are doing something right now. However, i think that this is the wrong attitude to have cause we should simply do/pay it when we remember. Otherwise, we'll just keep dragging and then we end up paying it late again. I don't hate to pay them too. But the problem i guess is that we procrastinate.

Bills are our responsibility to pay them. The company give us time frame in order to pay the bills. Now the problem is us. Are we just being lazy? Or we didn't like paying bills? Remember that if we don't pay bills then we will get service disconnection. So cut off the laziness and pay bills on time.

I forgot to take my library books back on time and ended up with a fine of over eight pounds. I renewed my library books and then forgot again before that date was there. So I now have added six more pounds to my fines. I am dreading going back to the library and will be getting little change out of fifteen pounds. I had my credit card bill and thought the pay by date is in a couple of weeks. I got to the day before that pay by date. I felt very worried seeing the charge for a late payment. I rang up the pay by phone using a debit card. It said I could pay the full amount or the minimum payment. I decided to pay the minimum payment. It arrived just in time. I paid more than the minimum for my credit card bill the next month. I have two credit cards and I have my other credit card bill. I am going to wait another ten or so days before paying it. I wish to pay a few hundreds pounds rather than the minimum payment. I recently got an electricity bill and paid it straight away.
