I think it is kind of important as we customers, we should have alternative consideration when taking a transportation to places far, like across the state lines. Undoubtedly, airplane is the fastest transportation, but consider its cost and the other factors, we might want something cheaper, and also provide the same comfort along the way. A British company recently establish a wide bus route across the states here with a lot of cheap fare. For instance, a friend of mine took a round trip from Charlotte to Orlando only paying $48, what a deal. With the current gas price by driving, it won't be that price. If you are interested, you can check on their website on megabus.com.

Trains and buses certainly are competing travel modes and people should consider them even some of those who think they have the money and therefore they will travel by air only. It is for overall economic good and good for this planet when less fuel is consumed. Moreover, we get to enjoy the landscape, cultures and food types when we travel by road or rail. If the promotional efforts made by bus & rail transport authorities offer cheap prices, it is even better deal. If I were one, I would certainly try to use it!

Sure that talk about cheap public transport in Italy, especially in my city like Genoa, is a bit complicated. Beyond that public transport in Genoa "sucks" in the true sense of the word, you should know that this city has the highest ticket price of the whole Italy. In fact for a bus ticket lasting 100 minutes, well have to spend EUR 1.50. (think you to the conversion into U.S. dollars ..) This thing is very upset my fellow citizens, often using the private car, but again here is the "scam", the gasoline sold at the price "of gold"!. What to say in conclusion, to talk about transportation right now in Italy (especially Genoa) would say it is an argument to be left alone.
