Some Days I HATE Computers!!!

My computer is old & basically tired. I'm saving up to buy a new one, but don't have enough just yet. This week it has crashed several time & I've managed to baby it back up. Today I've been trying to download my email from yahoo. I don't know if it's my computer or if it's yahoo; but I've been waiting for 3 hours to see my emails. It's showing it's received 100% yet it still says downloading & I can't see any of my waiting emails!!! So, if any of you have sent me anything important, I'll get back to you just as quick as I can read them!!! Most days I love my computer, but today isn't one of them. It seems ALL my friends are trapped inside my freaking computer & I'm being held hostage!!!! If your computer has ever held you hostage, expand on your frustrations & remedies please!!!

You are walking a dangerous road. I would never say something nasty about my computer for it might hear me and explode! Well, I have an oldie but goldie too that could very well be called a door stop computer. It is still tickin like an old watch so I just go with the stutters and try not to get frustrated. Some things just won't work anymore if they are not up to date but I've learned terms like backup, reboot fixes everything and the blue screen fightback called re-install. In the end a little hug will bring back the love.

I sometimes think that if it did explode...that would be a good thing!!! YES, I'd be miserable until I could get a new one; however, I'd be FORCED to get a new one in place of babying this one!!! I've hugged this bad boy soooo many freaking times that my boyfriend is jealous!!!

Just don’t give your boyfriend your email address? He might send you a suggestive email and then watch how you respond to it ...or... you could give your boyfriend your email address? I wonder too which one to go with, is it new, old, old, new? And then there is that everylasting question about $. We are still talking about computers right?

My desktop computer also once in a while slows down. Really very frustrating. I do have Norton virus scan on my computer. I would have it do the scanning and cleaning from time to time. That does help getting back the computer to normal speed.

I scan my computer daily for viruses & everything is showing clear. I've scanned for malware & that came back clear. I think it was a rather large video file a friend sent to me & it just jammed up my system. I've once again got everything back to normal. My computer is just over 10 years old & it is always slow; but today it had dayum near stopped!!!

hmm.. I don't hate them but I feel angry when something not happens.. specially when I need to finish it very fast and it doesn't get completed so soon because my system is hanging.. I do get frustrate.. normally when I am called to change in some site and I have to make it live within an hour.. and my system gets hang.. I get frustrate and angry too.. mostly I unplug the system with power directly and start again to save shutdown timings in such cases..

Perhaps your issue is fixed now but I just opened my yahoo email and it downloaded within a nano second. Unfortunately computers don't last forever, and the more we do the slower they get. Mine keeps asking me to delete add-ons to speed it up. I don't know what add-ons I need and which ones I don't. I honestly think it's better to have 3 different computers for 3 different types of activities. But who can afford that?

I'd lose my connection a hundred times over if I expanded on my own frustrations and remedies! lol My computer is fine. It's my provide that is driving me to distraction. I can barely stay connected for more than 45 seconds at a time. So I feel your pain, but can't offer.......... ???????? ......(back on line) any remedies!

I hope you will be able to get a good budget for you to be able to buy a new one. It is really hard to deal with computers which are slow. Technology has already changed. Switch if you already have the money for you not to be frustrated with that old one .

When I say my computer is old...I mean it is really old!!! It is over 10 years old & that's 500 years in human life!!! If I was that old, I'd be really slow too!!! I finally babied it through one more crisis & got my emails to download. A dear, dear friend sent me a huge file & my computer balked at having to work that hard. Now that I've got my emails, all is right with the world again!!!

If you have trouble with your mail, try going to mail2web.com. You can enter your email address and password and it will let you see your mail, read it, reply, etc. Do you have Malware Bytes? You might have some viruses or other malware that it can take care of. Have you defragged recently? That can sometimes solve crashing problems by "straightening up" your files and stuff.

Thanks for telling me about mail2webs. Usually when I have problem with yahoo downloading to my computer, I just go to their website & I can look at my emails from there. Well, today even that wasn't working!!! I closed ALL proggies on my computer & then shut it all the way down. Then I put a load of laundry in my washer.. You know it, the washing machine wouldn't work either. So, I kicked the washer, loaded my dirty clothes back into my laundry bag. Turned my computer back on, reopened my email proggy & off to the laundromat I went. When I got back home all my emails had finally downloaded. I had one really large file from a friend that I think had made my computer feel as if it were working too hard. I had a message that not all email had downloaded; but when I checked, they were ALL there!!! Now, I'm going to respond to everybody who tried to assist me here & then work on my emails!!! I have Zone Alarm & Malware Bytes and both those are telling me I've got no viruses. I can't defrag as my hard drive is way too full & the system won't let me. My main problem is my computer is over 10 years old & my hard drive is stuffed & I've removed everything I dare to remove. A few more paychecks & I hope to be able to buy a NEW computer. Until then, I'll cuss, fuss & otherwise throw tantrums!!! THANKS for ALL the GREAT advice...Keep up the good work!!!!

I am so pleased that you finally got your e mails. Especially when the news is so wonderful. She must be a very lucky girl to have you as her friend. I am sure that you will help her all the way with her new state as mom to be.

Oh you know Me p1key. I don't put up with insubordination for very long. The offending file was a video from a friend whom I love dearly!!! I loved the video, so she is forgiven for even sending it!!! My error appears to have come in with my lack of patience (YES, I didn't have ANY patience) as it had flown out the window. This has been a week of things breaking. My washing machine had the nerve to go out today so I set the email proggy to run & I went to the laundromat & took myself out to dinner. On return, I felt better & I found that my emails had made it through & I'm feeling much calmer!!! My friend also sent me some WONDERFUL news...she's pregnant!!! So, p1key, you may stop ducking for fear of what I'm throwing!!!

hi ladymarissa I see o thers have already gave you all sorts of good advice. so am just sharing a silly thing that happened to me. my son had changed my email from outlook express to well.com and to mozilla thunderbird. I could not get my email and kept getting bad user name . I just could not figure out why. I had typed in the same user name I was signed up with. My son came over to visit me and he laughed,, and pointed to my umpteenth time email attempt All in the details " he said pointing. there was a period. one lousy little period in my addy and I had not even seen it. I removed the period and all things were go. Did I ever feel foolish? one lousy little period.Check that you do not have anything that does not belong on your email addy just to be sure. loll lol

Oh, I have done that one too!!! Mine was a lousy space in stead of a lousy period. My email proggy automatically signs me in & it signed me in yesterday, but wouldn't let me in last night. It turns out it was a large video file being emailed to me that caused the proggy to hang up!!! So, I'm back to smiling & am amply reminded that I need to save my money faster & get that new computer!!! My current computer it jut over 10 years old & just can't keep up.

I had a computer like that and it is certainly no fun. I don't think I have ever been as aggravated before as I have been at an old and worn out computer. I had to save and get another one too. When I did, I got one that was all my own...that I didn't have to share with the family...LOL..I was selfish once I got back online. I hope you get back online soon and that you get that new computer. Good luck and take care.

it is so bad to have a slow computer. it has caused so much trouble for you and i think you should change for a new one now. can you please tell me where are you? how much it is for buying a computer in your local area. If it is not so expensive, you should buy a new one as soon as possible. You know, waiting three hours for an email is a torture for this.it wastes us so much time and it also influence your mood. so change your mind and let me know your great idea of deciding to using a new one. you will feel the efficient feeling and satisfied with all you have done with the new computer.

I live in the US & most of the decent systems I've been looking at run somewhere around $600. I could probably get one cheaper, but it would be an off-brand & wouldn't last very long. I don't want one of those opting to save a little longer & get a name brand system that is known to last. I do plan on buying a new one hopefully soon. I'm figuring it will be another 2-3 months before it will happen though. Until then, I'll just have to pray over this one & curse it in between!!! Of course, with each problem, I'm learning a little more about how computers actually work!!!

My computer is also old and very tired but it manages day by day. Most of my friends have the latest windows while I still have my windows XP. I don't want to update my windows because I know my computer is too old to handle it so I just stick to the old stuff. I use my computer for all sorts of things, from downloading to doing my school studies. But the more I use it, I reckon more viruses pop up and I hardly ever scan my computer. It tends to lag a lot and I can't even play online games anymore as my computer is way too old for that. I don't have the money for a new computer but I do have a few spare computers stored in my spare room that family gave to me. Old computers too but at least they're faster than mine right now. Don't you just hate it when you're in the middle of something then your computer just randomly crashes for no reason and then you lose everything!

Even now, my computer will suddenly restarting it self without warning and it is very annoying me. Not only restarting problem, but my computer also getting really slow these day. Sometimes i need to wait more than 1 minute to launch IE or firefox for browsing, and sometimes the computer will freeze for minutes if i open more than 2 windows. I already try to delete unused files and i've tried to reformated my computer too but this problem still happens to my computer. Well i guess, the older the computer gets it will probably getting some problems too..
