I observed the price of pocket digital camera is getting lower and lower. I mean with the same price as previous we can get high quality and more features. For example, camera with resolution 12 Mega pixels has already standard and we can get with the low price. However, many low end digital camera still has not equipped with rechargeable battery and its looks bulky and thicker. For me battery could be a benefit if we like to travel to tourist destination that doesn't have electricity. It usually using 2 AA battery. Which widely available everywhere.
How about you? Do you prefer to buy those cheap camera or better to save more money to buy better ones with rechargeable battery?

I think buying a GOOD BRANDED camera is the best choice..like SONY. CANON,NIKON etc..
We can use it for a long period of time and it has a warranty too..
If we buy a cheap camera sometimes it might malfunction and it wont work properly..
But there are some good cheap cameras..
We should choose the one that suits for us without wasting out money..then we can save our money..!
:-) :-D
And also if we buy a Branded camera it will be a long time investment...!

I prefer to buy my digital gadgets that would use AA or AAA size batteries,as that way I can use readily available rechargeable batteries in them...and I can always have a backup supply of them charged and ready to go,instead of having to dock or plug in the gadget to recharge when necessary..and as a failsafe, standard batteries will work too...

I have experienced when missing many sweet and beautiful moments just because my digital camera battery drain down..

I rather like battery cameras, with the new lithium type batteries which are expensive but they last so long, and you are right it is good to be able to carry spare batteries rather than charging on a dock, we are so lucky to have digital cameras aren't we...

well, you have good points.. new lithium type batteries is really durable and long lastings..however,it really costly as well, sometimes is easier to charge our battery if only using for a day and bring along the battery charger with us every where..Now I think most of the charging time is consider so fast then it not required to wait so long..appreciate your response anyway..

My old camera needs two AA batteries. My new camera has a rechargeable battery. I will therefore need to take a few electric adapters on my trip to South America. I am going to check which voltage they have in Argentina and Chile. Yes, when staying in a thatched beach hut there is no electricity to recharge a cameras battery. I chose a camera with an excellent zoom and a small compact size. My old camera is a bridge type of camera and is larger than my new camera. I like to have at least 14 million Mega Pixels. I am delighted my new camera has a battery that I can recharge. It should save me money and is better for the environment.

There's several solar powered battery chargers on the market that would let you charge up,even off grid..

rechargeable battery helps and has more energy stored in it so it may happen that you will not required a battery charging... but you can also keep an rechargeable battery with you if you think that you are going to such a remote area... with normal camera the battery does not last long and you have to keep chaging them.. and in a place where there is not electricity I doubt that you will get a battery...

Don't be fooled into thinking that you are getting a good camera even if it says that it is a 12megapixel that is cheap. You will find that the pictures are not so good and they use regular batteries instead of the rechargeable batteries. If it is a good brand camera, I have found that battery doesn't discharge that easily. The one that I am using right now takes days of continuous use before it goes low on power.
