What is Time Line in Facebook

Yesterday I saw a new design in my friend's Facebook profile. There was a background wallpaper in his profile page and I found that is called Time Line. So what is it really? and how can I activate into my profile?

Timeline in a facebook is new way of representing the profile page of Facebook. It was announced in october and was relesed for public first in newzeland and then for rest of the world.
Basically timeline is everything what you did shared commented posted videos or links or events or any things that you did on facebook is show with a time stamp.
Timeline allow you to show you activitoes on facebook with time. You can select a particluar month and year at top and see what you have done in that month. There is line which have all thing attach and time is shown on the post when it was posted or shred.
There is big hover profile timeline pic which quite large like banner is timeline pic that is to show to user who visit to see your profile. Look to make it good and more aatractive.
