Have you seen much of your homeland?

Every person in the world has a home country. Some people live in a tiny country like Singapore so it is easy to see many places in it. For someone that lives in the USA they might have stayed their whole life in the state they were born in. How about you?

No maximax8 I can say I have probably seen only 15-20 % of my beautiful country.. This makes me actually reflect on a very important observation that a friend made a few days back.. He told we think so much about visiting foreign lands that we fail to behold the the beauty in our own homeland. Sadly it is true in my case too.. Being from southern part of India I have never visited the north and north eastern parts of my country at all and if an opportunity arises I would like to visit the beautiful snowcapped mountains of the north east first..Cheers .. Happy Mylotting

Hello Ashwin Sajith. I have in the past been guilty of caring more about seeing foreign lands than my own country. India is a large country. I sometimes talk with an Indian man at my local sports center. He told me the train from Kerala to Delhi would take around two days. You have been able to see fifteen to twenty percent of your home country so that is an excellent start. I wish that you will visit the north to see the beautiful snow capped mountains. Good luck.

My country isn't that big but of all my 30-plus years, I don't think I've managed to see even a fourth of it. We're an archipelago, 7,000-plus islands, actually, and it's a bit expensive to visit each and every place since you need to take short plane rides. Well, you could also ride a ferry but that would take too much time.

Hello Beamer 88. I totally understand that your home country has more than seven thousand islands therefore seeing all of it is impossible. The inter island planes seem pricey and the ferries are not fast ones. I live on the mainland of my home country. I have been to the Isle of Wight and Lundy Island. I went on a boat trip around the Farne Islands.

I'm an American and I've been to 33 out of our 50 states. Most of the travel was in my younger years into my teenage years, and now that I'm grounded at home, I appreciate how much of the country I was able to see in the past. I have great memories along with a lot of photos and souvenirs that remind me of good times.

hi maximax8! i live in a beautiful country. it is an archipelago that comprises 7000plus islands. although i live in the city, there are numerous beaches that i can go to in a few hours drive. i have visited many parts of my homeland but still, there are still more to cover. each region here pride themselves in fine cuisine, beautiful tourist spots and beaches that looks like paradise. how i wish i will have so much time and money so i can indulge myself and my family in being a tourist in my own homeland. take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith210

I love traveling through my country, I also think that this is something everyone should do, traveling abroad too, it, gives us a new perspective of our homeland as well, almost always, a positive one, since, after leaving the country, we tend to value things, that were taken for granted before. Once a month, or, at least, every two months, if I am too busy, I like to take a couple of days off, usually on weekend, and go somewhere in my country.

Hi Maxine, I have seen some parts of my country, but still have a lot to see yet. I have been more to the north than to the south and I have missed a very beautiful part where there are giant icebergs near the antartic. I have other priorities now, but probably I will go this year to Easter Island.

Hi Marguicha. Your home country on a map looks long and thin. It is excellent that you have explored the north. I am very excited about your trip to Easter Island. That should be splendid and very special indeed.

I'm from the US. I just counted and I've been in 21 of 50 states but haven't explored all of them. The US is a huge country, and as much as I'd like to, I can't afford to travel to all of it. I went to Singapore for a year, but when I think of travel, I think of traveling here, "at home."

Homeland..or is it the place where you were born...it is truly indicated that you must be familiar with the geographical features of the area in question. There is always a string of sentimentality attached to the place where one is born and brought up. It is in fact the tiny piece of earth that you belong to..it is your place on earth!!!

I come from East Malaysia, popularly known as North Borneo during the British colony. Yes, I've traveled extensively and almost covered the whole state but have not traveled to most of the states within Malaysia. There are 13 states that formed my country Malaysia. The south china sea separate east and west Malaysia. Out of the 13 states I've only been to four states. Am planning to tour the whole country one of these days.

I've been to many states plus Canada and France. But the states are mostly east coast states and Arkansas. I'd like to go see many more places. My husband was stationed all over the USA plus trained in various places. So he's seem more western places and Colorado. He was in Korea and Saudi Arabia for the military also. So we've both traveled, but not the same places.

In the US (where I live), I've only been to a few states. If I have my choice in traveling I'd rather just leave the country. I've been to Minnesota (where I live), Wisconsin, Michigan, No Dak, So Dak, Iowa, Illinois, Wyoming, and Nevada (if Las Vegas counts for that..LOL). I'd like to experience Cali, New York, Florida, Hawaii, and Alaska. EVEN Colorado and Montana would be pretty cool - to see the Rocky Mountains. But on my list of priorities, visiting the states fall low - I'd rather go see what Europe and Asia are all about. I enjoy the 'culture shock' with traveling abroad, you don't really get much of that traveling state-to-state in the US.

With more than 7,100 islands, I got to say it is hard to explore my beloved homeland the Philippines. I remember before, I told myself that before I die I will see to it that I have landed to at least 3,500 islands of my country. I hope I can make it but as of now, I only have been to 500. hehehe... I am not that confident if I can reach my goal. Here in the Philippines, there are 17 regions from north to south. Out of the 17, I have visited 12 of it. But those regions are composed of at least 5 provinces each. Based on the number of provinces here in my homeland, I would say I have only covered 40 percent of it.
